Kentucky backup quarterback Shane Boyd proved to be the difference as he helped his team to a 35-14 win over Ohio Saturday night at Commonwealth Stadium. Boyd, in relief of ineffective starter Jared Lorenzen, ran for two scores, threw for one and caught one. The Bobcats (2-5 Overall, 1-2 MAC) again were forced to go with true freshman Austen Everson at quarterback. Everson, who shined last week against UCF, had a tougher time against a strong Kentucky defense. He threw for 147 yards with a touch...

Ohio recorded its first home shutout since 1997 as it blanked UCF 28-0 on Homecoming Saturday afternoon in Peden Stadium. On a day when many familiar faces returned to Athens it was a new face that led the Bobcats (2-4 Overall, 1-2 MAC). True freshman quarterback Austen Everson, starting for the injured Fred Ray and Ryan Hawk, ran for 3 TD's and passed for another to account for all of Ohio's scoring. For the game, the 6-2, 220-pounder from Brentwood, Tennessee ran for 130 yards on 21 carries an...

Ohio tries to shake a four game losing skid as it hosts UCF for Homecoming Saturday afternoon at Peden Stadium. The Bobcats (1-4 Overall, 0-2 MAC) have held leads late the last two games against Western Michigan and Northern Illinois but were unable to close the deal. QB Fred Ray and HB Stafford Owens both left the Northern Illinois game with first quarter injuries and are questionable for UCF. Junior QB Ryan Hawk and freshman HB Chris Jackson filled in admirably for the two in last Saturday's h...

The script was familiar, as Ohio turned the ball over early and fell behind its opponent. This time, however, the Cats responded in fine fashion after falling behind 17-0 to WMU Saturday at Peden Stadium. Trailing 31-20 as the third quarter ended, Ohio (0-1 MAC, 1-3 overall) took the lead 32-31 with 8:58 left in the game.

When Western Michigan steps into Peden Stadium Saturday for the 4 p.m. game against the Ohio Bobcats, they might see a warped reflection in the Ohio locker room.

The colors of the jerseys are different; the styles of offense and defense are different. But what both teams need heading into their MAC opener is very similar: a win. Last weekend, probably for the first time in the 50-year history of the Mid-American Conference, the MAC was the top story in college football when Marshall, Toledo a...

Minnesota established ground dominance on its first possession with an nine-play, 80-yard drive to open the game and were threatened only mildly the rest of the way in a 42-20 win over Ohio at Peden Stadium.

Bolstered by two Freddie Ray touchdown runs, the Bobcats trailed 28-14 but were not able to pull closer. Ohio moved within scoring range in the third quarter, but were turned back on fourth-and-two when Ray's pass in the end zone was broken up. Minnesota then marched the distance of the f...
