DeKALB, Ill. – Ohio built a lead and held off a few different pushes from Northern Illinois to win 74-66 and clinch a spot in the Mid-American Conference tournament Saturday at The Convocation Center.

Javan Simmons led the way with 23 points, on 9-of-10 shooting, and seven rebounds, while Jackson Paveletzke added 14 points and six assists. Aidan Hadaway had a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Bobcats (13-11, 9-6 MAC).

ATHENS – Ohio locked down Ball State in the first half to build a big lead on the way to a 69-57 victory against Ball State on Tuesday night at The Convo.

The Bobcats led 32-15 at halftime, holding the Cardinals to 25.9% shooting to that point. The Cardinals bounced back to shoot 55.6% in the second half and got as close as seven, but it was not nearly enough.

OXFORD – No. 23 Miami remained unbeaten with a 90-74 victory against Ohio on Friday night at Millett Hall.

The RedHawks (25-0, 12-0 Mid-American Conference) were hard to stop, shooting 51.7% while putting five players in double figures, led by Brant Byers’ 21 points.

ATHENS – Ohio topped 90 points for the second game in a row, downing Western Michigan 91-71 on Tuesday night at The Convo.

The Bobcats (13-11, 7-5 Mid-American Conference) put all five starters in double figures and built a 16-point lead, controlling the game against the Broncos (8-14, 2-8 MAC).
