OXFORD – No. 23 Miami remained unbeaten with a 90-74 victory against Ohio on Friday night at Millett Hall.
The RedHawks (25-0, 12-0 Mid-American Conference) were hard to stop, shooting 51.7% while putting five players in double figures, led by Brant Byers’ 21 points.
Shooting 46.7% from the field, the Bobcats (13-13, 7-6 MAC) could not keep up despite a game-high 22 points from Jackson Paveletzke.
After leading 43-35 at halftime, Miami scored the first five points of the second half and led by double digits the rest of the way.
Justin Kirby’s 3-pointer sparked a run that began to put it away. Almar Atlason and Peter Suder scored layups, and Miami was up 65-48 with 13:14 remaining. Byers connected on a 3-pointer with 6:56 to go that pushed the lead to 79-59.
