Ohio played 18th-ranked Virginia Tech to a 7-7 halftime tie but the Hokies pulled away in the second half for a 28-7 win Saturday afternoon in Blacksburg. The Bobcats (2-1) struggled against a tough Tech defense putting up only 114 yards of total offense.

The true freshman carried five times for 26 yards in the Bobcats win at Louisiana-Lafayette. Harden ran for 3,068 yards and 40 touchdowns in his high school career. Ohio ran for over 200 yards and blocked three punts in a 36-14 season-opening win vs. Gardner-Webb Saturday night in Athens. Kalvin McRae led the rushing attack with 142 yards and two scores. Back-up running back Josh Abrams had a great all-around night. He blocked three Bulldog punts and ran for a touchdown.

Kalvin McRae stands 1,009 yards away from becoming Ohio's all-time leading rusher. The two-time All-MAC First Team running back is an All-American candidate and is on the Maxwell Award and Walter Camp Player of the Year watch lists. Chris Garrett made his mark on Ohio special teams as a true freshman. He led the MAC and was 7th in the nation with a 14.5 yard punt return average. Garrett was also a threat on offense as a runner and receiver. He tied for the team lead with 13 plays of 20 yards or longer, including five punt returns.
