ATHENS, Ohio – The defense dominated in a shorted Green-White Spring Game that wrapped up the football spring practice season Saturday at Peden Stadium.

With about 30 players sitting out – most of them on offense – points were hard to come by as the Bobcats did not reach the end zone in 38 plays. Ohio managed 139 yards of offense and committed one turnover.

Rather than playing a regular game, the Bobcats were forced to shorten the scrimmage.

Ohio’s 2013 football recruiting class includes 22 players.

Players who inked letters-of-intent to play for the Bobcats include eight defensive linemen.

The Bobcats also have signed three prep school players: Fork Union teammates cornerback Jarid Brown and defensive back Dyquan Stewart and Hargrave Military defensive end Tarell Basham. All three currently are enrolled in classes at Ohio University, as is junior college transfer Watson Tautaiaki.

KENT, Ohio – Kent State scored a pair of defensive touchdowns in building a 21-point first quarter lead, rolling to a 28-6 regular season finale victory against Ohio on Friday.

Luke Wollet returned a Beau Blankenship fumble 50 yards for the game’s first score less than two minutes in and C.J. Malauulu returned a Tyler Tettleton interception 33 yards for a score at the 5:59 mark in the first quarter.
