Ohio’s 2013 football recruiting class includes 22 players.

Players who inked letters-of-intent to play for the Bobcats include eight defensive linemen.

The Bobcats also have signed three prep school players: Fork Union teammates cornerback Jarid Brown and defensive back Dyquan Stewart and Hargrave Military defensive end Tarell Basham. All three currently are enrolled in classes at Ohio University, as is junior college transfer Watson Tautaiaki.

Of all of Ohio’s recruits, Chris Carson, a 6-1, 190-pound running back from Lillburn, Ga., was the mostly highly rated among virtually all scouting services, but he reportedly will play for Georgia Military Academy this fall. ESPN, Rivals and 247Sports all listed Carson as a three-star recruit. He reportedly had offers from 14 other schools, including Miami (FL), Maryland, Indiana, South Florida and Kent State.

Among those who have signed, Dublin Coffman offensive tackle Zach Murdock is the only other player rated as three stars by Rivals, while Suwanee, Ga., wide receiver Justin Wyatt was the only other player to get a three-star rating from ESPN. Detroit safety Leon Alexander was the only Scout three-star player, but that rating came as a tight end.

Ohio had a big loss in its recruiting class when Dublin Coffman quarterback James Walsh withdrew his verbal commitment and instead committed to Boston College last week.
