The 2006-07 season is the 100th in the history of Ohio basketball. The previous 99 seasons have yielded 67 winning seasons, nine regular season Mid-American Conference championships and four league tourney titles. The Ohio basketball team has received a verbal commitment from Muncie Central (IN) shooting guard Tommy Freeman. The 6-6 Freeman averaged 10.2 points and 5.0 rebounds last season. Known as an outstanding outside shooter, he connected on 39 of his 87 (44.8%) three-point attempts.

The Bobcats basketball squad has received a verbal commitment from 6-9, 250-pound center Kenneth van Kempen of the Netherlands. Ohio faced van Kempen's Upstairs Weert team on their European tour prior to last season. On a team coached by his dad, van Kempen scored 6 points in that contest. For the season, he averaged 2.1 points and 2.2 rebounds in 8.2 minutes per game.

An official announcement from Ohio Athletics must wait until compliance hurdles have been cleared.

Ohio basketball added to its roster today as Murray State forward Justin Orr has decided to transfer and play for the Bobcats. The 6-6 Orr will sit out next season and have two years of eligibility remaining starting in 2007-08.

Ohio closed its regular season with an 85-48 drubbing of Bowling Green Saturday afternoon at the Convocation Center. Seniors Mychal Green (16 points) and Jeff Halbert (10) were two of the four Bobcats scoring in double figures. Ohio (17-10, 10-8 MAC) shot a sizzling 63% from the floor inluding 50% from th 3-point line. Sophomore Jerome Tillman was a perfect 4-for-4 from the field and 7-for-7 from the line for 15 points.
