ATHENS, Ohio – Ohio built a lead as big as 29 points in the second half and held off Tennessee-Martin down the stretch in a season-opening 74-65 victory at The Convo on Sunday afternoon.

The Bobcats led 60-31 with 14:30 remaining on a Stevie Taylor 3-pointer, but the Skyhawks outscored them 34-14 the rest of the way to make it somewhat close down the stretch.

ATHENS, Ohio – Walter Offutt scored 23 points in his Ohio debut to lead the Bobcats to an 82-63 exhibition victory against Mercyhurst at The Convo on Monday night.

Nick Kellogg added 17 points and Ivo Baltic posted a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Bobcats.

ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio basketball team has added three players in the last week.

The Bobcats reported have added center Kenny Belton as a walk-on to this fall’s roster and have received verbal commitments from shooting guard Caris LeVert in their 2012 recruiting class and center Anthony Allen in their 2013 class.

Belton, a former scholarship player at Cincinnati, has not played in more than three years because of a spinal injury.

Ohio has been selected to play in the College Insider.com Postseason Tournament, traveling to Marshall for a first round game at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

It is the Bobcats’ first ever selection to the CIT, and it gives them a chance to avenge a regular season loss to the Thundering Herd. Marshall defeated Ohio, 65-57, on Dec. 4.

OXFORD, Ohio – Cold shooting plagued Ohio as Miami put an end to the Bobcats’ five-game winning streak by taking the regular season finale, 76-66, at Millet Hall on Friday night.
