On December 16, Frank Solich was hired to rebuild the Ohio football program. The first building block went into place today when Solich announced his first recruiting class. Although they've been on the job a few weeks, Ohio head football coach Frank Solich today officially announced the hiring of five assistant coaches. They are former New Mexico State assistants Gerry Gdowski, Ross Els, Derek Mason and Keven Lightner, as well as former Minnesota State assistant Carl Pelini.

Ending a couple weeks of rumors, Ohio head football coach Frank Solich on Tuesday officially announced Tim Albin as offensive coordinator and Jimmy Burrows as defensive coordinator. The two served in the same capacity at North Dakota St. last season. It was also announced that Pete Germano would remain as recruiting coordinator.

In a press conference Thursday afternoon in Athens, Frank Solich was introduced as Ohio's 28th head football coach. He returns to coaching following his 2003 firing at Nebraska after going 58-19 in six seasons there. Solich, a 60-year-old Cleveland native, guided the Cornhuskers to six straight bowl games, three Top 10 finishes, five 9-plus win seasons and the National Championship Game in the 2002 Rose Bowl.

At a press conference Thursday afternoon in Athens, Ohio Athletic Director Thomas Boeh announced that head football coach Brian Knorr has been relieved of his duties. Knorr was 11-35 in four years as head coach of the Bobcats. The university will honor the last year of his 5-year contract. Ohio will begin a national search immediately for Knorr?s replacement, with plans to engage a consultant to work with a university committee for the successful completion of the search process.
