In a press conference Thursday afternoon in Athens, Frank Solich was introduced as Ohio's 28th head football coach. He returns to coaching following his 2003 firing at Nebraska after going 58-19 in six seasons there. Solich, a 60-year-old Cleveland native, guided the Cornhuskers to six straight bowl games, three Top 10 finishes, five 9-plus win seasons and the National Championship Game in the 2002 Rose Bowl.
Solich replaces Brian Knorr who was fired after going 11-35 in four seasons. He has signed a multi-year contract with Ohio at a base salary of $240,000.
