Junior college big man Ken Ottrix made it official when he signed a National Letter of Intent Tuesday to play basketball for the Bobcats. He'll be eligible for the 2005-06 season a junior. The signing marks a homecoming for Ottrix who played high school ball at Hilliard Davidson. MAC Champion Ohio will take on Florida in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to be held Friday at 12:25 PM in Nashville. The Bobcats (21-10) were the recipient of a 13-seed and the only Mid-American Conference team to make the tourney. The 4th-seeded Gators (23-7) finished their season Sunday with a 70-53 win over Kentucky in the SEC Tournament Finals. The winner faces the Villanova/New Mexico winner on Sunday.

The fourth seeded Ohio Bobcats (21-10) overcame a 19-point, 2nd-half deficit to post an overtime win in the MAC basketball tournament at Gund Arena on Saturday night. In front of a national ESPN2 audience, Ohio was victorious over the seventh seeded Buffalo Bulls, 80-79. The win secures a spot in the NCAA Tournament. This is the first appearance in the big dance since 1994.

Ohio posted a 62-55 win over Kent St. Thursday night at Gund Arena in Cleveland to advance to the Mid-American Conference Tournament semifinals. The victory avenges an 82-65 that the Flashes (20-12)handed the Bobcats (19-10) just five days ago. Leon Williams led the Cats with 14 points and 16 rebounds. Mychal Green and Jeremy Fears added 13 and 12 points respectively. Ohio will face Miami Friday night at 7 PM in a game televised by FoxSports Ohio.

Ohio advances to the Quarterfinals of the MAC Tournament with a 72-66 first-round win over Marshall Monday night at the Convocation Center. The win gave the Bobcats (18-10) a 3-game sweep of the Thundering Herd this season. Terren Harbut led four 'Cats in double figures with 19 points. Kent St.'s 82-65 win over Ohio Saturday at the M.A.C. Center kept the Bobcats from a MAC East Title and #1 seed in the conference tournament. Ohio (17-10, 11-7 MAC) instead becomes the 4-seed and will host 13-seed Marshall Monday night. The Flashes (19-11, 11-7) finish as a 5-seed and will host 12-seed Central Michigan.
