The fourth seeded Ohio Bobcats (21-10) overcame a 19-point, 2nd-half deficit to post an overtime win in the MAC basketball tournament at Gund Arena on Saturday night. In front of a national ESPN2 audience, Ohio was victorious over the seventh seeded Buffalo Bulls, 80-79. The win secures a spot in the NCAA Tournament. This is the first appearance in the big dance since 1994.

Ohio was led by freshman center Leon Williams who scored a career-high 29 points and grabbed 15 rebounds. William's put-back after missed Jeremy Fears shot with .5 seconds remaining in overtime proved to be the biggest bucket of the night for Williams. Williams, the MAC Freshman of the Year, was named the Tournament's MVP.

Fellow freshman Jeremy Fears had 21 points and 5 assists for the 'Cats. Sophomore Sonny Troutman had 12 points and Mychal Green scored 10 for the Bobcats who trailed by as many as 19 points in the second half. Buffalo built a large lead at the beginning of the game thanks to a strong shooting performance from behind the arc. The Bulls shot 50 percent from the field and 47 percent from 3-point land during the first half. However the Bobcats were able to weather the storm by pounding the ball down low into the post where Williams was able to muscle points. A 24-3 run gave the Bobcats their first lead of the night with 8:44 remaining. From there the teams were able to trade buckets with neither team leading by more than 4 points. Driving lay-ups by Fears, Troutman, and Green would help answer any points put up by the Bulls.

Ohio will learn of its NCAA Tournament opponent, seed, and location during the NCAA selection show Sunday night at 6:00 on CBS.
