ATHENS – Ohio overcame a sluggish start to blow out Division III Heidelberg, 85-57, at The Convo on Saturday.

The Bobcats trailed 24-22 more than midway through the first half but outscored the Student Princes 63-33 the rest of the game.

Nick Kellogg caught fire late in the first half and finished with a game-high 18 points, while Jon Smith made 7 of 8 shots and scored 11 of his career-high 17 points after halftime. Ricardo Johnson and T.J. Hall added 13 and 12 points, respectively.

BALTIMORE – Stevie Taylor scored a layup through contact and knocked down the free throw with 2.2 seconds left to give Ohio a 65-62 victory at Morgan State on Wednesday night.

The Bobcats (3-1) trailed most of the game but led 62-60 on a Maurice Ndour jumper at the 1:59 mark. With 38 seconds left, Justin Black missed twice at the foul line, but Anthony Hubbard put back the second miss to knot the game at 62 and give Ohio the last possession.

ATHENS – Ohio connected on eight of its first nine shots to build a lead and then scored the final six points to hold off Valparaiso, 76-72, on Sunday at The Convo.

Maurice Ndour scored 23 points and added six rebounds, five blocks and four steals to lead the Bobcats (2-1). Nick Kellogg drained four 3-pointers and scored 16 points and Ricardo Johnson and T.J. Hall each finished with 11 points.

COLUMBUS – Columbus natives Stevie Taylor and Nick Kellogg combined for 42 points but 10th-ranked Ohio State overcame Ohio, 79-69, by cashing in a school-record 38 times at the foul line Tuesday night at Value City Arena.

Ohio State (2-0) scored the game’s first nine points and led the entire way. Ohio got as close as five on a Maurice Ndour putback with 4:03 remaining, but the Buckeyes closed out the game at the foul line.

ATHENS – Nick Kellogg scored 14 of Ohio’s final 16 points as the Bobcats pulled away from Northern Iowa in the final minutes for a 75-64 season-opening victory before a crowd of 11,162 on Saturday at The Convo.

ATHENS – Ohio held Ashland to 33.6 percent shooting and forced 18 turnovers in a dominant defensive effort as the Bobcats won their only exhibition game, 66-44, on Saturday at The Convo.

Ohio Basketball has made a late change to its roster with the addition of Egg Harbor Township (NJ) High School small forward Khari Harley. The 6-8 Harley averaged 18.4 points and 5 rebounds as a senior shooting 44% from the field (50% on two-point attempts) and 84% at the FT line. Multiple news outlets are reporting that Ohio has received a verbal commitment from 2014 power forward prospect Tariq Owens from St. Vincent Pallotti (Laurel, MD) High School. The 6-9, 190-pounder chose the Bobcats over offers from Miami (FL), VCU, Temple, South Florida, Richmond, Florida Gulf Coast and heavy interest from Georgetown. DENVER – Ohio missed two chances to tie or take the lead in the final 30 seconds and the Bobcats’ season came to an end with a 61-57 loss to Denver in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament on Tuesday night at Magness Arena.
