ATHENS – Nick Kellogg missed a pair of 3-point tries in the final five seconds and Akron knocked off Ohio for the fourth straight time, 83-80, in double overtime on Sunday night at The Convo.

Led by Quincy Diggs’ 20 points, the Zips overcame a nine-point second-half deficit and a six-point hole with less than two minutes remaining in the first overtime.

KENT – Ohio used a 15-4 run late in the second half to come away with a 59-53 victory against Kent State to open Mid-American Conference play Wednesday night at the MAC Center.

Nick Kellogg had 19 points, six rebounds and three steals to lead the Bobcats (11-3). Despite foul trouble, Maurice Ndour had nine points and five rebounds, while Travis Wilkins scored eight points and grabbed seven boards.

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Ohio rallied from a 12-point second-half deficit to top UNC Asheville, 79-70, to close out non-conference play Saturday at Kimmel Arena.

Maurice Ndour scored 24 points and added 10 rebounds, four assists and three blocks and Nick Kellogg scored 23 points and had nine boards for the Bobcats (10-3).

RICHMOND, Va. – Nick Kellogg’s 3-pointer with nine seconds left in overtime gave Ohio a 70-69 victory against Richmond on Sunday at the Robins Center.

Ohio (8-3) trailed by 10 early in the second half, rallied to take the lead but Kendall Anthony’s jumper with 22 seconds left in regulation tied the game and Kellogg missed a jumper at the buzzer.

ATHENS – Ohio used a 14-0 run late in the second half to pull away and cruise to a 72-47 victory against Alabama A&M on Saturday at The Convo.

Leading 16-14 with nine minutes remaining, the Bobcats held the Bulldogs scoreless for almost five minutes, taking a 30-14 lead on a steal and layup by T.J. Hall.

ROCHESTER, Mich. – Ohio shot 36.8 percent and committed 18 turnovers in a 73-56 loss to Oakland on Saturday at the Athletic Center O’Rena.

With the game tied at 37 with 13 minutes remaining, Oakland went on a 12-0 run and Ohio did not get closer than nine the rest of the way.
