JUCO Junction is reporting that Monroe College (New Rochelle, NY) 6'6" wing Nehemias Morillo-Lajara has committed to Ohio. He was a teammate with current Bobcat Maurice Ndour at Monroe last year where he averaged 6 points and 3.2 rebounds in 16.1 minutes per game. A native of the Dominican Republic, Morilla-Lajara played high school ball at Notre Dame Prep (Fitchburg, MA). Ohio Basketball has made a late change to its roster with the addition of Egg Harbor Township (NJ) High School small forward Khari Harley. The 6-8 Harley averaged 18.4 points and 5 rebounds as a senior shooting 44% from the field (50% on two-point attempts) and 84% at the FT line. As a junior, he averaged 11 points and 4.1 rebounds and shot 48% from the floor (50% on two-point attempts).

Multiple news outlets are reporting that Ohio has received a verbal commitment from 2014 power forward prospect Tariq Owens from St. Vincent Pallotti (Laurel, MD) High School. The 6-9, 190-pounder chose the Bobcats over offers from Miami (FL), VCU, Temple, South Florida, Richmond, Florida Gulf Coast and heavy interest from Georgetown. Owens is rated a 3-star recruit by Rivals and Scout and becomes the first commitment to Ohio's 2014 signing class.

DENVER – Ohio missed two chances to tie or take the lead in the final 30 seconds and the Bobcats’ season came to an end with a 61-57 loss to Denver in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament on Tuesday night at Magness Arena.

ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio men's basketball team was selected Sunday to play in the National Invitation Tournament.

As a No. 6 seed, the Bobcats (24-9) travel to take on No. 3 Denver (21-9) at 9:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Ohio is 4-4 in four all-time NIT appearances, having last taken part in the tournament in 1995.

CLEVELAND – Senior D.J. Cooper was named Ohio’s first Mid-American Player of the Year since Gary Trent in 1995.

The league made the announcement Wednesday, reporting that he won by a wide margin, collecting 16 of 27 votes from a media panel. Akron senior center Zeke Marshall was second with seven votes, while Buffalo junior forward Javon McCrea earned two votes.
