ATHENS – After sitting out the last game, Ben Vander Plas nearly putting up a triple-double Monday as Ohio built a huge lead and then held off a late Central Michigan push to win 85-65 in the first round of the Mid-American Conference tournament at The Convo.

Vander Plas finished with 25 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists, and Jason Preston put up big numbers across the board, too, with 21 points, seven assists and six rebounds. Jordan Dartis added 11 points and five boards.

AKRON – Ohio ran out of gas late, and Akron rallied for a 74-67 victory Tuesday night to clinch the Mid-American Conference regular season title at James R. Rhodes Arena.

ATHENS – Jordan Dartis scored 27 points, and Ohio snapped a seven-game losing streak to Central Michigan with a 77-69 victory Tuesday night at The Convo.

ATHENS – Miami missed 24 straight shots in the first half, and Ohio rolled to a 77-46 victory against its rival Saturday at The Convo.

Jason Preston posted a triple-double with 15 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.
