MUNCIE, Ind. – Freshman Mark Sears did his best Jason Preston impression to help Ohio snap its three-game losing streak with a 78-68 victory Saturday at Worthen Arena.

With Preston still sidelined with a lower body injury, Sears put up 18 points, eight assists, six rebounds and three steals in 35 minutes as the Bobcats picked up their first Mid-American Conference win.

ATHENS – Bowling Green hit on 36 of 38 free throws and for the straight time in the series rallied from a halftime deficit to beat Ohio 83-75 on Wednesday afternoon at The Convo.

Playing without star point guard Jason Preston because of a lower body injury, the Bobcats led 42-32 at halftime, but the Mid-American Conference preseason favorite Falcons ruled the second half and closed the game on an 11-1 run to stay unbeaten in league play while keeping the Bobcats winless.

AKRON – Akron scorched the nets with 63.6% shooting and ran away from Ohio 90-70 to open Mid-American Conference play Tuesday afternoon at James A. Rhodes Arena.

HUNTINGTON, W. Va. – Taevion Kinsey scored 28 points to lead Marshall to an 81-67 victory against Ohio on Sunday at the Cam Henderson Center.

After trailing by double digits in the first half, Ohio cut its deficit to one at the start of the second half, but Marshall answered back and pulled away.

ATHENS – Trailing at halftime, Ohio used a huge second half to run away from Purdue Northwest 92-72 on Thursday afternoon at The Convo.

ATHENS – Ohio scored an NCAA Division I record 40 straight points and blew out Cleveland State 101-46 on Sunday afternoon at The Convo.

Already leading 46-25 near the end of the first half, the Bobcats scored five more points before the break and then scored the first 35 points of the second half to go up 86-25 before the Vikings ended a nearly 10-minute scoreless stretch.

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Ayo Dosunmu’s free throws with 2.3 seconds remaining put Illinois on top and allowed the eighth-ranked team in the country to hold off Ohio 77-75 on Friday at the State Farm Center.

CLEVELAND – Though there was a limited crowd, Ohio players warmed up on the court as usual before what was supposed to be the first game of the Mid-American Conference quarterfinals against Akron on Thursday morning.
