ATHENS - Kent State shot 57.4% and held a 24-rebound advantage in beating Ohio 89-79 on Saturday at The Convo.

The Golden Flashes races out to a 40-26 halftime lead, and even a 53-point second half was not enough to bring the Bobcats close.

Jason Preston had 24 points, 10 assists and five rebounds with no turnovers, and Ben Vander Plas connected on 5 of 10 3-pointers and scored 24 points with five assists but only one rebound.

ATHENS – Jason Preston returned to the lineup and helped Ohio roll past Miami 78-61 on Tuesday night at The Convo.

He had 10 points, eight assists and six rebounds in 32 minutes after missing the last four games with a hamstring injury. TOLEDO – Toledo had a big first half and cruised past Ohio 95-78 to remain undefeated in Mid-American Conference play Friday night at Savage Arena.

The Rockets led by as many as 21 points late in the first half, and their advantage remained in double digits throughout the rest of the game.

ATHENS – Darius Beane missed a long, contested 3-pointer at the buzzer, and Ohio held off Northern Illinois 76-73 for its second straight win Tuesday evening at The Convo.

MUNCIE, Ind. – Freshman Mark Sears did his best Jason Preston impression to help Ohio snap its three-game losing streak with a 78-68 victory Saturday at Worthen Arena.

ATHENS – Bowling Green hit on 36 of 38 free throws and for the straight time in the series rallied from a halftime deficit to beat Ohio 83-75 on Wednesday afternoon at The Convo.

HUNTINGTON, W. Va. – Taevion Kinsey scored 28 points to lead Marshall to an 81-67 victory against Ohio on Sunday at the Cam Henderson Center.

ATHENS – Ohio scored an NCAA Division I record 40 straight points and blew out Cleveland State 101-46 on Sunday afternoon at The Convo.

Already leading 46-25 near the end of the first half, the Bobcats scored five more points before the break and then scored the first 35 points of the second half to go up 86-25 before the Vikings ended a nearly 10-minute scoreless stretch.

The previous record scoring run was 39 straight points by Oklahoma against Weber State on Dec. 22, 2014.
