Honestly, one cannot blame the kid if he gets a full ride to Northwestern. I love Ohio, but I mean c'mon, this is Northwestern we're talking about, one of the preeminent universities in the U.S. It is a cut above Ohio University academically.

Funny, the double standard here, Burrow chooses OSU and he's evil, Williams may go to NW and he's got an opportunity he can't turn down. At the end of the day, this is also a football decision, the chance to play in the Big10 over the MAC

I'm pretty sure I said the same thing about Burrows as I did Williams, or at least something similar. I have no problem at all with Burrows going to OSU.

Given that Northwestern hasn't ever sued Ohio over the right to use the name, it isn't all that surprising that there are different attitudes about the two schools. I would think it will take at least another generation for that to be forgotten.

This kid has earned a Big 10 offer. I would not be upset in the least if he chooses to go to a great coach like Pat Fitzgerald. Toss in the logjam in the backfield for us and it's a no-brainer. And if Burrow stays with his OSU commitment he's crazy and will transfer after a year.

Officially gone. That stings, but RB is a position of strength, so not a killer.

Well thats a bummer. I personally would have stood by my word but I can't blame him. Northwestern is a great school and its a great oppertunity. It is really sad that we lost two recruits from the local high school who's parents both coach

As a Northwestern grad, I don't object to the school he chose, but I agree that it's odd that Dixon is the only coach who has sent his kid to Ohio.

Wasn't Dixson's boy one of the leaders on the team in TD's and YPC this season?

Willing to bet this scholarship goes to Luherman, a teammate from Athens, and Williams wil be a defensive player at Northwestern.

Weak sauce! Notre Dame maybe but Northwestern? Have fun getting waxed every year. Got to question assistant coaches that can't even sell their own kids on OU...how are they going to sell recruits? I would let those Coaches move on, need better salesman.

a full season of your teammate constantly talking about playing in the B1G and seeing all the attention he's getting, then along comes Nwestern in a 76 Chevy van with "CANDY" spray painted on the side, of course he's going to climb inside.

we lose a kid to Northwestern so we are suppose to give one to a kid currently with an offer from Ashland. No need to keep the scholarship local.

I think its silly to suggest that Burrow and Williams playing for B1G schools instead of their dads' MAC school is somehow a poor reflection on our staff's ability to recruit. I love my Dad to death but there is no way in hell I would want to spend my college years in my hometown under the direct supervision of one of my parents. Especially in a college town like Athens. If you want to leave the nest you've got to spread your wings.

+1

Plus, you need to know your achievements are your own. How many here wondered if the snaps Dixon's son received were well earned or because he was the coaches son? Well, his 50 yd TD showed us he is a player, but, did any out there wonder?

Local or not, the kid can play. It's when a local kid goes to a rival school and has success that it comes back to haunt you... Also ironic that Trae is going to play DB in the BIG 10 but he can't defend Ryan at WR...
Since cc-cat probably hasn't seen him play, this might help: http://www.hudl.com/athlete/1520135/ryan-luehrman

Your three posts are all about this kid. I get it. You know him. You like him. You may be related to him. He has been contacted as a preferred walk-on. Given the general take on the kid from college recruiting, that appears to be right. We have an open scholarship. let's see who we can get.

Plus we already have 12 WR on the roster (plus a recently signed QB that can also play WE). Let's look at a position where we may need some depth - perhaps a big back that could play FB.

Do we? Or is it already gone, taken by Colbert? (Anderson took the one Fair had taken).

Not surprising at all. The program is running out of steam... No reason to go with the Bobcats over a better school in a better conference.

Since he's going to Northwestern rather than Ohio, 247Sports bumps his rating from 81 to 84. Considering that this follows dropping Maxwell Howell from 88 to 72 when he chose Ohio, it's going to be very hard for me to take 247Sports seriously in the future.

Conversely, Connor Krizancic is leaving the Big 10 to play at Ohio. Using same logic as the above post, I guess that means the program is gaining steam! :)
