Maybe more offers will come in later, but there is not a single P5 school on that list.

That may be true, but I think that more of our verbals last year had way more offers by this time. And I expect some of the recruits will be upgraded as the year progresses, but the rankings are still behind last year by a bunch.

Seriously, the thing is, the early offers go to guys the Coaches really want, based on film, and based on what they've seen in their camp. I know that in all years the early offers/acceptances have fewer offers than the ones they take late. Partly I think that's because, once they have verballed to Ohio, some schools aren't going to bother making an offer, but if they weren't committed to anyone, they might. Most years the guys with a bunch of other offers came late.

If I have time, maybe this weekend I'll take a look at the guys that Ohio has taken early and see how they have worked out. The number of pre-July players in all prior classes combined is pretty low, though, maybe a total of 15 players or so, so I'll probably look at all players who gave a verbal before the season started. If that group has a high success rate, despite having fewer offers, that would be good to find.

Right. That is completely logical. There is no reason to complain about the lack of stars for a guy taken in June or July because the staff would have to be supremely confident those guys were worth an offer to be giving one out. Its the guys that will be signing in the last month where you take the best player available even those that may not qualify. That is how this staff has been doing it for a long time.

I'd say that there isn't all that much difference, except that some classes include a guy, or a few guys with a large number of offers, like Russell, Wyatt, Lowery, Duckworth, and Hagan. Add in one guy like those to this class and you'd be back at 2 offers/verbal.

But with 4 grayshirts to work in as well, we're also running out of room in the class. We've got, what, maybe 4 open slots at this point? And are we saving any of those for the guys from 2015 who didn't get eligible in time for this season?

Iunno....I know it's probably not as bad as I think it is, but it's also not as good as I'd hoped it would be. That's the nature of fandom, I guess.

I'd agree that I'm surprised at the number of early commits. Obviously they will have to slow things down the rest of the way to February. Hopefully they fill the class the rest of the way with nothing but top recruits.

It will be interesting to see how the recruiting services rate these guys, when they get around to rating them.

Well, the board has been pretty boring lately and someone has to start this thread. Might as well be me since Monroe hasn't. Now I know why I said I would not look at the recruiting services until the players hit the field in August of the next year because they really are worthless when looking at the MAC.

Well, I broke that rule...has anybody else taken a look at 24/7 lately? They do have some of our 11 guys rated! But, if they are right, we are back in the middle of the pack! And my 3-star guys: let's see WMU with 11/18, Toledo 6/17 and even MIAMI with 5/14 while we sit at 2/11.

Said it one million times and will make this one million and one...you cannot get enough 2-star and NR guys coached up at the same time to win MACC game. It looks to me like this group is following that script. I sure hope I am wrong and they do develop all these guys into monsters on the field.

And, if PJ Fleck with all his 3-star guys does win 8-9 games this year and wins a MACC game I will really be pissed.

I hope someone tells me to relax:) On second thought, I am sure someone will have probably have more than that to say to me.

All of the hotels in Athens and Logan are sold out for the weekend. The same goes for hotels in Lancaster except for a Holiday Inn going for $180. You might want to find a hotel in Columbus if you are flying into that airport or drive 30-40 minutes past Athens to Parkersburg WV. I travel to the games from the East so I usually stay in Parkersburg.

I don't believe he's complaining about it. I believe he's pleased, and is taking credit for squelching a lot of the enthusiasm. I'm not sure that he's right, however. I just think a lot of discussion has moved elsewhere. We'll have a better measure on fan enthusiasm once ticket sales numbers come in. I also think that how the team plays this fall will have a quick effect on enthusiasm, one way or the other.

I was thinking that I'd question exactly how dense you are.

Then, I realized that you're 3ball and you're pulling all of our legs.

'cause you obviously realize that it was posted in the SE LA Univ thread that the game is on Parent's Weekend so the rooms are pretty much sold out due to that and not the football game.

Good jest; you had me there for a moment. I now understand that you can't seriously think SE Louisiana is a big fan draw.

From the small volume of posts on the football threads now, there's clearly little excitement even from the most hardcore 'Cat fans for football now.

I don't blame Monroe for his lack of grasp on the excitement around this football program.

He is on the other side of the country. The culture change that Solich and his staff have brought to Ohio football hasn't moved west of the Mississippi yet. If you haven't been to Athens recently, you probably don't get it.
