I don't blame Monroe for his lack of grasp on the excitement around this football program.

He is on the other side of the country. The culture change that Solich and his staff have brought to Ohio football hasn't moved west of the Mississippi yet. If you haven't been to Athens recently, you probably don't get it.

You meant to say that it hasn't moved west of the Rockies yet.

I thought the Grobe-Boeh era with the logo rebranding, stadium improvements, radio network, online presence brought the football program up a full level in respectability. Solich era has upped it another whole level from there. ESPN TV, Bowls, Blackout Games, Division Titles, New Mascot, Student Tailgates ect. Its much the same story in basketball too with the NCAA runs and blackout games. On the windows of Follett's are murals of the head football and basketball coaches. Under Armor has a shop next to the coffee house Court and Union intersection. There is a serious D1 sports atmosphere in Athens these days.

The only one that has rated them is Scout.com, and they rated both 2, but I agree with you. I think they are 3-star players, and will have some 3-star ratings before the season is over.

I hope you aren't insulting the guys you left off your list. More than 9 players have committed.

I was confused by that tweet when I first saw it, for the same reason, but then I figured it out. The tweet is from "scouting Ohio" and is about "Ohio early commitments". There are fourteen commits, of which 9 are from Ohio.

Thanks L.C. that makes sense then. I hope the out of state recruits don't make the same mistake I did. Especially the ones with other offers! I'd hate to lose any of them and have to replace them with a player the coaches didn't like as much. Probably not likely but you never know nowadays.

At this point we have 15 players listed in this class, and to those we have to add grayshirts:
Adam Luehrman
Ryan Luehrman
Matt Seymour
Louis Zervos

and presumably:
Demetrius Colbert
Michael Farakas

and possibly, if he qualifies, from the 2015 class, via Jireh Prep:
Clayton Glasco

That possibly gets us to 22 players. With 17 Seniors, and adding in the usual attrition of about 5 players, this class is pretty full already. I don't expect many more additions to it, though I hope they still have room for a QB.

If this is the full class all I can say is I am speechless...

Per Rivals, there are 32 3-star guys headed to the MAC as of today (If I counted right:)). Of those 10 are going to WMU, 5 to MIAMI and 5 to Toledo. Guess who has -0-? Oh, did I say Rivals ranked OHIO at #8 in the MAC in the recruiting war right now?

I continue to be baffled by the "business as usual" approach of the staff when it comes to recruiting. You would think we were one of the top 3-4 programs in this conference and the 11 year old approach was working. Well, it hasn't won the whole enchilada yet.

So, my thought is if the players aren't on the roster now to win a MACC, they are NOT getting much help in this class. And, I will continue to say there is NO WAY you can "coach up" enough 2-star and NR rated guys and get them on the field at the same time to win a MACC.

And, final thought, seriously NO JC QB?

Have to agree with you there, pretty much on all counts. My only hesitation is that I don't know how good the current QB's who haven't played this year are. Is there a diamond in the rough someplace there? I don't know.

Another problem for me is that with the non-qualifiers, etc from last year, that class is not as good as we had expected at one time.

I have said before that the age/staleness(?) of the current staff may be a negative factor in some way. Of course, others see that as a benefit, so who knows how that factors in.

Austin Conrad - TE LaGrange Keystone HS, OH (COMMITTED)
Cameron Odom - WR Bedford HS, OH (SIGNEE)
Keevon Harris - WR Leavitsburg LaBrae HS, OH (COMMITTED)
Defense
William Evans - DE Augusta Aquinas HS, GA (COMMITTED)
Amir Miller - DE Worcester Academy, MA (COMMITTED)
Dylan Conner - LB Ft. Wayne Carroll HS, IN (COMMITTED)
Andrew Cree - LB Leavittsburg LaBrae HS, OH (COMMITTED)
Jared Dorsa - LB Kings HS, OH (COMMITTED)
Eric Popp - LB Loveland HS, OH (COMMITTED)
Ilyaas Motley - CB Centerville HS, OH (COMMITTED)
Xavior Motley - CB Centerville HS, OH (COMMITTED)
London Miller - S Mt. San Jacinto JC, CA (SIGNEE)
Tyler Tupa - S Brecksville HS, OH (COMMITTED)
Special Teams
Aidan O'Neill - K New Paltz HS, NY (COMMITTED)

Here's the list of guys we think are in this recruiting class. I think the kicker O'Neill is not receiving a scholarship unless he earns it away from the current kicker or punter. Also it seems Hadyn Lewis has re-opened his recruiting, so it won't be surprising if he's not in the class. That leaves 17 scholarship guys. Apparently, there was another commitment today, which would make 18. How many total guys can we expect?

The 16 refers to 2016 not the # of recruits. Pretty sure Haydn Lewis is not one of them.

Never mind on that. I was thinking of the number of faces that he sometimes Tweets that indicated the number of members, but I haven't seen him do that lately.

As of 9:48am on the 3rd, everyone is on board except Sink. Now is when the fun part starts for me. Are there any absolute surprises the rest of today or the next few days?

We can only hope...but with a small class I doubt it...that's OK...not as sucky a class as some Darksiders would lead you to believe...to me the big surprises and good ones are Michigan's DT Strobel and Louisville's CB Houchins....2 areas of quick need.

It seems like things got done way sooner than usual, if they are done. Most times, there have been a few guys sending in their letters of intent in the afternoon.
