Rourke should have went down at the one and burned some clock.

Hold teams to less than 500 yards = WIN.

Pretty simple formula.

Win is a win. Just tough to understand these early game burns downfield. If I am ANY team, my first play is to throw it deep (or certainly the first series).

Good rebound after too many TO's deep in Kant's territory. Hope Nathan is OK. Not sure I heard anything definitive.

Nathan seemed to be ok on the sidelines and in the last series.

I'll take a W anytime but next week we have one of the best teams in the conference, at least so far (NIU). I don't think we can expect to win if we get behind the Huskies by 2 TDs early and have 4 turnovers.

Congrats to Coach Solich on win #100! Like many, I bitch and moan sometimes but no doubt it has been a Good (if not great) 14 years.

I agree with allen on one thing, college teams in general do not milk the clock like the pros the last few mins of a game. Seems balls are often snapped with 10-15 seconds left. They don't seem to realize that over 4-5 plays that is a minute that can be taken off a clock.

I do disagree with allen...you take a TD whenever you can!

They average 16 points a game to our 39. I believe we can put up points against Northern.

Agree. And no matter how bad the D is....you give them a chance at redemption and to rebuild confidence.

I called out the D early so I'll come back and say they adjusted well and finished nicely

But they're giving up just 25 pts a game. Kent averaged 39 coming into this week, and we managed only 27 against them.

The two teams are pretty even statistically. Coming into this week NIU averaged 350 yds total D (44th in 1A); our offense averaged 466 yds (37th). Their offense averaged 266 yds (127th); our D averaged 518 yds (125th). Their TO margin was +2; ours was +4.

They held a Ball State team, that put up 52 on Kent last week, to 16 today. Going to have to play a lot better on offense than we did today.

Kent had to kick a lot of field goals because of penalties, but a win is a win. If we cut the 50 missed tackles in half, we can do something. I am proud that Rourke hung in and brought us home.

what happened to Maleek Irons and the boxscore?

i thought his stat line was appox. 3 carries for 8 yards midway through the first half..... now i don't see him with any carries.. NOTE: i could have been WRONG about early box score

did he play?

thx in advance :)

I agree, a win is a win. I also agree, you take the TD when you can get it.

Now, let's have the team show some real progress by beating a team that in 3-0 in the MAC. Ohio matches up particularly well with NIU, and has beaten them a few times in recent years.

Under Frank Solich:

Opponent Scores First: 33-51
Opponent Leads after 1Q: 17-44
Opponent Leads at Half: 10-56
Credit this team for doing something not many have figured out the last 14 years.

It was certainly ugly at times. Still allowed nearly 500 yards and for a 5th straight week allowed a WR to put up a career day (Isaiah McKoy 118yrds) ...

But they didn't allow TD last 53 minutes (stunningly) and they did hold them under 30 points.

Baby steps I guess.

If Rourke cuts the bonehead decisions (INT & fumbled option pitch) he's going to be even more dangerous ... assuming he's not seriously hurt.

No Irons today hurt ... hopefully he's back for NIU.

That's going to be a much stiffer test. Kent might be worst team in league along with BG.

Big worries are that Rourke and Lowery finished the game on the sidelines and Irons didn’t play. If we get them all back and cut down on the TO’s and missed tackles and blown coverages, we can win the MAC.

Arkley tweeted that he was held out for injury...he said that he asked Frank about it, and was told that Irons had tweaked something in the walk-through/practice yesterday, and so didn't play today

Hamstring tweak in the Thursday non-contact “practice.”

Hopefully no big deal. Frank cited it in postgame on radio and with print press.

Of more concern for me was LT injury late that caused shuffling.
