Isn't Oxford about as close to Cincy as you can get? Homesickness doesn't seem legit as a reason.
His announcement tweet says "coming home". Colerain to Oxford is only 10 minutes longer than Colerain to Clifton.

Could just be a combination of homesickness and/or wanting to play with his brother, but Miami's Ivan Pace Jr., 2021 All-MAC First Team Defense, has transferred to UC. Something seems a bit off in Oxford...

I wonder if it's because the MAC is a bad conference to play football in and Cincinnati just played in a four team tournament for a national championship?
Seems very logical to me. Why wouldn’t he make that move?

As someone who grew up in Colerain, Clifton definitely seems closer to home than Oxford.

Just spitballing on the homesick part-not likely the reason.

Looking at some social media posts, it actually seems like quite a get for UC as he had lots of P5 offers-Miami, Arkansas, and LSU among them.

Watched Ivan play for Colerain in high school and was frustrated that Ohio didn't pursue him more (at least from the fragments I could gather on social media).

Is it too much to expect for someone in the media to write a story about Ohio's search for a new defensive coordinator before the university announces who they have hired?

Maybe they're just waiting to see which NFL DCs might be available now that the regular season is over. :) Or maybe there's just not anything going on. As discussed earlier, it's going to be tough finding someone craz...uh...willing enough to jump into the position, knowing that it's likely to be a one-year gig.

AFCA is this week, lots of talking and meeting will be going on. More than likely waited till then to start the interview process.

This sounds like a starting point for a potential article to me. It might include what the situation is, who some speculative potential candidates might be, and whether anything is known on what might be happening - time frames, etc. Maybe even a short interview with Albin about what he's looking for and where he stands in the process.

This is one area where we really miss Arkley working for The Mess. Without Arkley, The Mess sends somebody out to cover games and that's about it. No digging for other stories. Pretty much the same with the Post. They focus on the sports that are in-season and let the rest slide. And Arkley apparently doesn't have time to do it with the regular gig he has. So we wait for the rumor mill.

Read up on his credentials. His D's like to rush the passer.

I saw that, will dig for more information. That sounds good and he has developed some linebackers too.

He’s the guy I wanted.

Now maybe we can get a pass rush.

Makes the Fiami rivalry a little more interesting.

There should be at least one more addition to the defensive coaching staff I assume. Defensive ends and safeties? Nowinsky may be the d ends coach?

I think it’s poor taste for OU not to at least give credit to the Athens Middle School AV Club for producing that wonderful introduction video.

Multiple sources tell FootballScoop that Redhawks’ head coach Chuck Martin, coming off a 7-6 2021 season punctuated by a season-ending 27-14 win against North Texas in the Frisco Football Classic, is looking to fill roles on staff at special teams as well as to replace Hauser and Nowinsky, who served as the program’s co-defensive coordinators.

Keep Watching

Per sources, Hauser and Nowinsky are prime targets to join the Ohio University staff of Tim Albin, who is retooling after a 3-9 campaign in his first season as head coach following the mid-summer retirement of Frank Solich.

While negotiations are in advanced stages with Albin and the Bobcats, at least one remains in consideration for a Power-5 opportunities that could impact the Ohio opportunities.

As always, stay tuned to The Scoop for the latest coaching news.

LOL you'd think in the age of YouTube, TikTok, etc. we would have some better quality videos and talent out there. Not saying I could do better but the fact that it made me laugh right away says something LOL

The polyglot genius that runs OU football’s social media accounts and makes these videos is named Mike Scholze and I have to say that I really do enjoy his complete lack of effort in the media he creates and his non-existent awareness by putting “OU OH YEAH!!!” on scoring updates when we are being beat by 35 points.

He was a DL at Minnesota State from 1991-94, which means he played collegiate ball under Hayden Fox, Luther Van Dam and Dauber Dybinski. :)

Do we know the terms of the contract? Just wondering if he knows this might be a one-year gig given that it's the review year in Albin's contract.

At this point I'm glad we got SOMEBODY and apparently someone who's done a decent job. I was beginning to think that we'd be starting spring practice next month without a DC.

I must ask the question; Why would somebody be willing to make a lateral, a real lateral move. There must be more to this story. It could be the $'s although I doubt it, it could be a promise to keep your job after Tim is fired after next season although I doubt it as well. Something is not right. Was he being terminated at Miami and given a few months to find a new position and Ohio was his best option?
Let's do some digging on this hire.

A YouTube video includes testimonials by former players.

It seems Coach Wolinsky taught them about life as well as football.

Lots of praise from former players.
