... so what is your gameday score prediction? ...

My expectations:
1. Bobcat offense will score a few points, but facing a real defense will slow them down. I see Ohio being forced to pass, and 5 sacks on Rourke. I think the Bobcats end up with 13.
2. Bangura will have a long day running the ball, because, to protect against PSU teeing off on Rourke, they will keep mixing in runs by Bangura despite them usually being short gains. Someone will have to come in and relieve him, but who will it be? Idk.
3. I think Bobcat special play will improve, but they will have one undesirable play sometime in the game, still a major improvement from last week.
4. This is a game the Bobcat defense really needs for them to gel. The single high defense is designed to stop the run first, and it's a gap defense. Can they plug all the gaps? Can they cover the runners when they do break through the gaps? How often can they stop runs for <5 yards? I predict that, like last week, the defense improves as the game wears on. They need to gain confidence in themselves, and in their teammates, and in the defense itself. I predict that PSU scores 31, but they score more early than late. I also predict that this game will pay dividends down the road, as the improvements they make here will give them much more confidence for the rest of the season.

I'm calling it PSU 31, Ohio 13.

A lot of stuff on the mark here i feel...

1. Agree we gotta get more consistent on special teams and stop starting drives at the one-yard line. I think we will probably get smoked for a big play or two on special teams and/or pass defense. Safety Ben Johnson really seemed like the glue last week and he is out for the first half due to that targeting call.

2. Interested to see what the strategy is on offense, what type of personnel groups they use. In the third qtr last week the 'CATS used a lot of tempo and a good bit of '11 personnel,' and had some good results. I imagine they will try to help the RT pass block with either the RB or TE. Rourke maneuvered his way out of a few sacks last week and will probably need to do so this week.

3. It could be a long day if PSU is able to consistently generate a pass rush with 4-5 guys, dropping the rest in coverage. Purdue did have success on crossing routes. I dont see many holes for Bangura on the interior on a regular basis but I think the edges could work. Rourke established himself on the option last week and bangura might get some open space on the edges with the defense having to respect that Rourke may keep it. I see Bangura having a more prominent roll in the passing game this week.

4. I like the thoughts on the defense. This is clearly a better defense at stopping the run than a year ago based on early returns. I think the group will get better too. PSU played 8 or 9 players on the O-line last week including a number of inexperienced guys starting so, while the unit has big ten size, the unit is far from cohesive. McCrory and Watkins might get a sack or two this week or the Dline/LBS may have some success rushing the passer with the stunts they ran in the second half last week.

5. I hated to see the Luehrmans go but i think for the first game, the TE group was quietly pretty good last week, doing a lot of the dirty work. I think they get some opportunities in the passing game this week.

I’d settle for no major injuries.
Agree with this. And, at any rate, please dont let us be so stupid as Miami was last week when their starting QB got injured and is now out for several weeks because he was playing in the 4th quarter with 4 minutes left down by 24 points against Kentucky.

My biggest concern is how much we struggled to get any push from our interior line in goalline situations last week. Surely Penn State will have more athleticism on that DL than FAU did. That said, I cannot see this offense being contained entirely. I think the key will be Rourke hitting some early throws to open up holes for Bangura.

There isn't a lot of chatter on this game. A lot of the comments are about hoping for no major injuries. When we played Tennessee about 5 years ago when they were ranked around #8, I don't think many thought we had a great chance but the thought of having an outside chance to beat a top 10 team was exciting. We have a noon game on ABC but it feels like no enthusiasm. But I feel the same way. With a 3 win season last year and NIL expanding the talent gap, This is the first game in about 15 years where it feels like we have pretty much no chance and the team we have no chance against isn't ranked. This kind of feels like ho-hum, lets get though this, hopefully get better and not suffer any injuries, and try to beat Fordham and win enough MAC game to get a bowl game.

Best line out there is Ohio +25, total 53.5
-28 at kick-off.

I’m not sure what to expect, but clearly people expect a beating if the line has moved that much.

It'll take a while to get the taste of last year out of our mouths. Last week was a bit of a surprise, but I don't think it changes the overall feeling that we aren't even MAC contenders.

Defense has some flyers already. Only thing I am hoping for is minimum injuries.

Rough start offensively. Had their O at 4th down. They just have too much talent. My hope is to make it respectable. What that is I do not know. 28 to 7? 42 to 14?

Can't keep making dumb decisions on kickoff returns. Fair catch for Pete's sake.

Wiglusz took the last one. We cannot run against them. Sorry Sieh but we are 5 wide the rest of this game. Albin won't do it but we should be. This is not 2012 Penn State and we are not 2012 OU.

Why on earth would you run play action in the end zone?

STOP RUNNING PISTOL PLAYS INSIDE OUR OWN ENDZONE

This staff saw Rodgers run a 99 yard option last year and thinks they have carte blanche to do it again.

That's on Rourke. How many safeties in past two years? 4-5? Most due to Rourke's slow feet.

The coaches need to get over their obsession with Nathan and bench his brother. How long must we go on expecting Kurtis to wake up and become a clone of his brother? In the most polite way possible, this kid is a bum.

Hey guys..at least Albin is cool cuz he hangs with Sammy Hagar. We have that. If we beat Fordham we are 2-2 and can easily go .500 in MAC. I never expected us to shock Penn St and Rourke is it. Ride or die.

I didn't know about the Sammy Hagar connection to Coach Timmy. That's a positive. Now if only the Bobcats would stop driving 55 here at Penn State.

I agree. There has to be better talent on the bench.
