Jerrel Jernigan is their best player. Receiver/return man. Has all kinds of school and conference records for receiving and all-purpose yards. Gotta account for him. Corey Robinson is the quarterback. Redshirt freshman. has had a lot of ups and downs. Their defense isn't good. Have given up some big point totals. They beat BG on last second field goal in opener. They got a break when MTSU beat FIU. That gave Troy a co-championship. They have won or shared the Sun Belt title for five straight years. They got hammered by FIU at home a few weeks ago.

From the article, it appears that the SunBelt had as much who beat who as the MAC.

If this line from the article is correct, if you're going to the game, buy your ticket through the OU ticket office to help offset the cost of going to this bowl.

I’ll be back with more later. I’m sure ticket info will be up on TroyTrojans.com when the announcement is made later tonight. The school makes money based on tickets sold THROUGH THE SCHOOL, so keep that in mind. You can probably buy them on ticketmaster for cheaper, but it won’t help the school out. That’s where I think MTSU outdid Troy last year in New Orleans.

Greetings from TROY University.

I am the owner of GoTroyTrojans.com.  I am humbled to invite you over to our message board to meet our team of members (some of the more passionate fans around).

We look forward to this bowl game versus you and the few days (13!) we have to learn about each other.

I have started a thread on GoTroyTrojans.com to hopefully have all the information anyone needs.   You can find that HERE.  If there is anything missing or you want me to correct anything, please let me know.

Good luck in your travels to the Big Easy!

Hey GoTroyTrojans.com,

What do you think of the idea of flying into Baton Rouge or Gulfport and staying in a town betweem either of these ciies and NO?  It might be much cheaper to fly into either and staying away from NO might also be cheaper.

Great question.  Unfortunately, I personally live in Illinois now.  I would highly encourage you to ask this question on the GoTroyTrojans.com message board you will get a great answer.  We've got several alumns who live in or near New Orleans.  They'll be able to tell you hotels, flights, food, parties, etc.

$238 out of Cincy. Me + all 4  going to NO. We are going to drop $1500 easy to make this happen. I sure expect to see a different team than at Kant.

If BobcatBlitz is right, who are the 5-7 players that are ineligible?

Despite what some here think, the school does owe alumni a good showing. For those of us who donate time, money and promote the university, you beat your ass I expect a win.

Of the four MAC bowl teams, I think this is the best overall spot.  Beats Detroit,  been to Mobile.  Boise?  Too cold.  New Orleans certainly the top city.  No Temple.  Interesting.  Hope Mr. 55 didn't book tickets to Vegas.

I think this is a great opportunity for a decent trip and a chance at a bowl win. I still can't fathom Temple not going bowling. That aside a second consecutive bow berth helps recruitting and a bowl win would help heading into 2011.

Checking the stats is good fun.

Troy is a power on offense but giving up 418 yds/game on D (vs 333 for our boys).

Troy last in pass defense (248/game). However, you never know if that has more to do with late game situations or the youth they have in the secondary.

The average 33/game and we give up 22/game.

Not saying out Defense is good, (because they have been our weakness all year) but we have SEC team, and Big 12 team on our Schedule....Both of which have been ranked in the top 10.....

We really got our asses handed to us in South Carolina.....Worst game ive EVER seen from TROY!

Understood AT.

We were beaten like a drum by the suckeyes as well. We went for 2 to beat Marshall at the buzzer and failed.

I really like this matchup and the Bowl. I am just ready to party in the Big Easy bro!

Excuse me the girlfriend and I will be landing return from Paris 40 minutes after kickoff this bowl so the time will need to be advanced a couple of hours.

Greetings Bobcat fans! I'm really excited, as many Troy fans are, that we are playing Ohio in New Orleans! It will be a great game. Do you know yet if you'll be bringing your marching band?

Focus on the positives please....

- It's not MAC on MAC crime.
- It's still New Orleans, so all 500 people that go will have a great time on bourbon street.

* Please don't give McKinney any beads on Bourbon Street....

I still have my beads from Mobile, bro.
