I'm coming in from Cali.  Never been to N'Awlins, but looking forward to the trip.  Second bowl trip for me (following the CATS), I KNOW they will be victorious vs. TROY!

I really want to go but unfortunately my best friends are going out that night as one is celebrating his birthday and the other is celebrating graduating college and I haven't seen them in months.  I will however watch the game wherever I end up which I already told them was going to happen.

Sounds like the perfect reasons for a group road trip to New Orleans to me.

I'll be there at the Hilton Garden Inn French Quarter most likely, though I haven't actually committed to that yet. Using hotel points. Can probably house some people.

What time are people getting in? I'm probably arriving around dinner time Friday.

Officially in +1 with my bro coming from Phoenix.  Big year for us making a trip to Rhode Island early this year and ending with a trip to New Orleans to support OUr Bobcats.

Waiting on a decision from my wife.  Either she's going or I'm going with a friend.  Either way, one of my favorite cities to visit because of the food!   I used to go there once amonth for business, but haven't been there since the GMAC bowl time when we stoped in NO before and after the game.  I'm hoping the Bon Ton is still open-what  a great place.  A word of caution, don't stray far from the tourist areas at night, it get s a little scary pretty quickly.  Just saying.

Very true. And be off Bourbon by 3:59 am. At 4:00 am exactly it turns into a scary freak show.

Definately not for the faint of heart.

Yours truly found out on Spring Break in 1969 that Bourbon Street ain't Court Street.

Food and drinks are cheaper in the daytime just a block off of Bourbon...but I never ventured there at night.

For those that have not been to New Orleans do not worry. Stay on the main roads and dont take shortcuts down alleys. I was staggering down Decatur street at 3am at our last bowl game coming from Cafe Du Monde with my wife and we were never approached, talked to, bothered etc.  New Orleans is a "dirty" city but its so rich in history. The carriage rides at Jackson Square are pricey but well worth if you like history...... just dont say the answers if you know them when they ask questions.  LOL! The Gumbo Shop on St Peter St just off the Square near the church is very very good. Cafe Du Monde is a MUST. Riverwalk is a hit or miss. If you need to do some Christmas shopping I'd go but other then that its just a mall. Any questions just ask.

I can't go, I already have plans with my best friends from high school and I haven't seen them since summer.  One is celebrating his birthday and the other is celebrating graduating college.  I will however be with them in a bar in Pittsburgh watching.  These plans were set before the bowl announcement.

Yeah.....we don't mean to scare people away.  There's plenty of security and the NOPD has a mixed reputation but they're effective.

Jackson Square was always one of my favorite areas......take a trolley ride on Canal Street for a real taste of Nawlins history.

I'm in +3-4. Looking forward to a great game, hanging out with Bobcat and Troy fans that appreciate being in a bowl and having fun in New Orleans. Oh...and the beads. The beads....

A trip to Mothers on Poydras Street is a MUST!  Unbelievable Po'Boy sandwich, and the best ham you've ever tasted.  Just a simple little diner with long lines and very worth the wait!

Im in +2 on the bus ride from Columbus with another student and a recent alum as our guest. This is going to blow the Little Caesars Bowl trip out of the water! Cant wait to go to New Orleans and see OU's first Bowl victory!

The travel package is a joke you are paying for transportation you really don't need unless you can't walk moderate/long distances and of course fees for the travel agency.  In the sticky travel thread I gave instructions on how to get a standard room at the Best Western St. Christopher (4 stars) off Canal St for two nights for $156 total, way cheaper than the Hilton.  And I also ended up flying with Delta for about $259 total round-trip for myself.

I was gonna go the the Bash, but they don't have any non-pork foods and my older brother doesn't eat pork, so that kind killed that option.
