Things I like about the New Orleans Bowl:

  • It sounds like a real bowl and by this time next year no one will remember who we beat (God willing)
  • Bourbon Street
  • ESPN during Primetime at 9pm on a Saturday (great chance for exposure)
  • Each game this Bowl Season will remind Temple that they are in fact not bowling (great reality check)
  • Troy will prove to be a formidable opponent and should be a great game (they lost to OkSU by 3 on the road)
I'm in +3 and will probably end up spending all my UPS winter break money in one place... Just booked a room at the Marriott on Canal Street, two blocks from Boubron Street. Check the neworleansbowl.org for hotel deals; it took $15 off my room.

Great points. I've found lots of flights for only 195 from Baltimore. Very reasonable. Also the team won't lose any class or holiday time with a pre-christmas game. Let's have Bobcat nation come out in full force for this game. See the Cats first bowl victory is priceless.

This would be the team hotel for Troy. The Ohio team hotel is the Sheraton Riverside.

In + 4 family. Marriott on 555 Canal for me too.

Been to NO many times. If you have not, this is a great situation. See our Bobcats and take in a legendary city!

In +whoever I can recruit, but no Ms. DA due to her holiday party on Friday evening.  $5 flight with JetBlue miles, first trip to NO and really looking forward to see the post Katrina revitalization.  Good times should be had, looking forward to Mobile-plus experience PLUS a victory for good measure.

Would be there +1 but we're flying back in from an international vacation right as the game begins.  Situation--your analysis of the positives of this bowl game brings back a bit of the excitement.  Does the official title of the game include 'mh55, you moron, your team is not bowling'?

Unless I can get the day off, I'll be watching the game at home.  But... GO CATS

We got 6 coming. We booked tha Marriott too. Great non-stop flights from Midway (Chicago) on Southwest. Some  flying out of Akron-Canton.
A defining event in Bobcat athletics.

Like pf4troy said, you all are booking our team's hotel. I don't know if that is what you want or not but you may want to reconsider.

PK, is that solid?  Would like to book my hotel but haven't seen an official web post of this and the Sheraton isn't listed as an option on the bowl website.

Katrina Bus Tour is a MUST SEE if it is still offered.

When Ohio played Louisiana LAfayette a few years back, we flew into NO and spent 5 days there.  On game day, we drove the short trip to Lafayette. IT WAS FANTASTIC.

I reserved seats on the KAtrina bus tour and it was the most educational, emotional, and rewarding thing we did.  WE are still talking about it.  I wasn't sure if I really wanted to commit to a 3 hr trip, but I could have done more.

For the first time visitors, you definitely want to experience Bourbon St., but if your schedule permits , consider the tour.  It was worth every penny.  We thought about just driving around so we could see all parts of the city, but the tour did that so you are really killing two birds with one bus trip.  The tour not only is educational about the past, present and future of Katrina devastation, but also was a great tour of the city, explained by experts instead of just  driving around getting lost and not knowing what you are seeing.

This is a  wonderful place to WIN a bowl game.

GO CATS!!

Unfortunately, I am arriving from Japan at 2:54 at Port Columbus on the 18th. So assuming a learjet isn't going to available for immediate boarding to New Orleans when I arrive, after making two straight bowls I am going to have to ruin my streak and call it a miss and watch it on TV instead. At least I get to watch the game and the NIU game before it drinking some of my favorite American brews.

I really want to go but unfortunately my best friends are going out that night as one is celebrating his birthday and the other is celebrating graduating college and I haven't seen them in months.  I will however watch the game wherever I end up which I already told them was going to happen.

I have Marriott points to burn, not Sheraton points. Have to prioritize, unless I'm helping Ohio Athletics by staying at the Sheraton.

Looking forward to meeting and talking with all you Bobcat Fans!  New Orleans is a wonderful place for fans to come.  If you bring your children, they boast one of the finest zoo's in the country.  There are lots and lots of things to do both "adult only" as well as "family friendly" throughout the French Quarter and the Central Business District.

The Mariott on Canal is the Team Hotel for Troy, while I beleive that the Hilton New Orleans Riverside is the Ohio Team Hotel (I could be wrong - but this has been true in the past).  I didn't even see the Sheraton lised on the New Orleans Bowl website:  http://www.neworleansbowl.org/visitors/hotels/

Should be a great game. Two similar teams (as far as ups and downs of the season go) with two different styles.  We pass to set up the run while OU runs to set up the pass.  Should be fun!

Do not fail to check out the National WWII Museum, the best in the U.S., and was the pet project of esteemed historian, the late Dr. Steven Ambrose....Had the great fortune of being there for the Grand Opening in 2001, and still support the project in the name of my grandfather who fought with the 1st Cav, 8th Div on the Phillippines Island.  Got to meet Dr. Ambrose and he quickly became my favorite author (no offense Mike Johnson :).

Today's email from the Ohio Bobcat Club says there is a team send-off at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside so it looks like that's the official hotel.

Sadly I have to coach youth basketball that day. Seeing if I can leave after the games and arrive before kickoff.
