Adding Louisville to the watch list. Losing to both Boston College and Syracuse in the same season, and still having to play Clemson, Wake, NC State and UK the rest of the way. Also losing to an FSU team that was way behind the 8-ball before you were. Most of the Louisville community already hated Satterfield. I can't see him lasting past this season unless they make a huge turnaround.

Besides the coaches, the search firms and coach’s agents should be really giddy about the direction of college football.

Get fired, pocket the 8-25 million, lay low for a year or so (or get a stint on Saban’s staff) and get hired by someone else in need of a new coach.

The trend has been leaning in this direction for a few years now, but with the gigantic new TV deals for the SEC and Big Ten, this is probably the new normal.

Does anyone know where I can find Tim’s contract?

Maybe Bobcat1212 isn't bluffing. I don't think any of us have seen his tax returns.

I never hear anyone wanting to buy out a president, provost or dean.

You apparently never talked to many faculty members during the tenure of the last OHIO president. They certainly would have supported a buyout. Fortunately, the trustees got wind of the dissatisfaction and ousted him. You think he left of his own volition?

I do recall the situation with Nellis. That was an internal situation and there is a big difference between what a president brings to the university and a football coach.

How would you articulate that difference?

Tim Albin must go. There is not other way to put it. He is not a head football coach. He is Brian Knorr 2.0. But make sure all of you Frank-o-Files out there, Frank did this to us. He retired late so that Albin would be hired. He left us without the chance to get a search committee and find a more qualified candidate. I love Frank to death but lest we forget, The Legend won ZERO MAC titles. Even if Frank stayed for these last 2 years we would be losing because the program was trending that way while other programs (Kent for example) were trending way up. We need to remember the Frank years but cleanse ourselves of the Frank remnants and start over.

What is the actual benefit of a buyout at this point? Albin's contract has a free out at the end of the season.

Whether you buy him out, let him coach through the end of the season, or fire him and pay his salary it's the exact same financial outcome.

Cromer handled this situation perfectly. No buyout necessary and the ability to move on from the Frank era in short order, despite an abrupt retirement and no ability to run a search.

+1 Totally agree

The way this card game is going to go is very advantageous to the coffers at Ohio and competitively too. Gives him a chance to prove his worth and if it doesn't work, we have a 0 dollar buyout.

Agreed. There's no reason to spend the money to jump the gun on a search now for the candidates Ohio is going to attract. Still a long ways to go, but the early season firings in the Power Five gets everyone in freak out mode. Let the dominoes fall as they may.

When/if a bowl game is out of the picture, that's when I think the move would be appropriate. Get the search underway and salvage whatever you can before the early signing day.

Is the "free out" available at the end of the season or does it only become available 1/1/23?

The earlier in the season a coach is fired, the worse they've been. The market is just starting to form, so totally agree we should wait to participate in it.

You guys are going to shit when the Cats win 6 (we've already shown improvement in many areas) and Coach Albin is given the rest of his contract.

And this would be how we continue to be average and not win the MAC.

That is only from the financial standpoint. What about the players. What has history shown about players responding to their loser coach getting canned mid year vs the coach being a loser and not getting canned till the end of the season?

I hope that this happens. He seems like a very nice person, and he might get better with OJT as HC. However, I would not bet the ranch on it.
