The guys at the end of the roster look to be walk-ons.....Jeff Pressdee played WR at Fairfield Union and Dale Cotton is a DL from Amherst.....QB Tyler Lang is lookin to play some safety for the Cats:

Beau Blankenship at about  5'8"-220 is a low to the ground RB whose speed has caught the eye of many....was on Tyler Tettleton's Norman OK high school team and was 3rd or 4th string at Iowa State and simply wantd more PT.

Didn't mention Derek Roback...Waverly boy from Notre Dame....not sure about position....but at about 6'3"-230 with 4.6 speed can play QB or TE or LB....I think he has 4 years left.

Looks like Beau cannot be called a human bowling ball seeing that the roster shows his weight is down under 190!

And Bates and Roback both weighing in BIG for QB--no arm tackling these two!

Nice seeing some depth on the OL--hope we see 2 new starters emerge as there were a few blind sides to the QB's late in the season last and we can do without repeating those plays.

A no huddle with Bates could be deadly!

Imagine this: you run an empty backfield formation with Bates lined up as a receiver. Next play, Bates is lined up behind center with the defense having no chance to make the proper substitutions.

It would be tricky to handle this and keep the defense guessing. I love it!

I seemed to be the only one advocating the no-huddle hurry up for so long.  (I seem to be the ...fringe... only one advocating a lot of stuff.)  Interesting to me to read that some are excited by it now that we are going to incorporate it.  Kudos to the coaching staff for seeing the light.

Seems to me--and L.C. agrees with me...unless he doesn't--that we don't have too many seniors on our roster.   If we can develop, we can be in for a good run.

No Leftwich twins on the field this spring..word is one is doing an internship in athens and the other is also focusing on course work..coach says they are participating in all other team activities meeting and such.

Monroe, as you know, I always agree with you, except when I don't.

Comments from today's practice: http://www.ohiobobcats.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/033011aaa.html

We may have to sedate Monroe:

Thoughts on the new no-huddle offense:

I think it is some that will help us exponentially. It will condition us and it will keep the defense off track. We’re trying to increase our number of plays that we run in a game. I think we can definitely get it done.

I remember a few years ago when Wyoming beat us at Peden.....they ran it and my ? then was why don't we give it a shot?

I'm sure the National TV thumping Troy laid on us didn't hurt either...And as was mentioned, it'll do wonders for the Defense's conditioning as well!

Another question......from this year's juco group I only see CB Mose Denton.....where's TE Tyler Knight and DE Justin Spivey?

Not here yet, apparently, but two freshmen are here already, Landon Smith and Ian Wells.

As commented previously, Laudermilch is gone from the roster, and Flowers is as well, but I see Vince Carlotta listed again. Lechner played well at LG last year, though, and Carlotta will have to play well to get his old job back.

Vince might be the key to the up tempo. Not sure Jon, who seems to be even heavier, will be able to go hard over a long series. I hope Jon has just gotten bigger, stronger and faster, though, Ohio seems to take weight off linemen his size.

I shouldn't say this (kiss of death stuff)....but with even some of the true freshman added to the mix it looks like this is the deepest that we've been on the o-line for some time.

Throw in a guy like Mark Smith who played as a true freshman......add some redshirt people like sophomore Sam Johnson and freshman Bryce Dietz....transfer John Prior....and even a true freshman or 2 like Lukas Powell and Jacob Welter and it spells D-E-P-T-H to me....which also spells S-U-C-C-E-S-S.

Practice was decent like that they play some music during it..defense made some nice plays and # 5 Leftwich had a great int run back for a touchdown..looks like the twins are practicing part time from what I've heard...good thing for the cbs because several have looked really bad..only the 2nd practice so time to improve.

OK, CBs looked bad. Does this mean there are cudos due any QBs or receivers?

And Monroe didn't think Twitter was useful.  It's all 'bout the Bobcat Surplus!

RT @jacorrigan14: "What kind of stuff will be on sale?" Shirts, sweats, travel jackets, footwear, jerseys, uniforms, footballs, equipment...

Awesome! Now who is going to be carrying the load of the running game, without an experienced QB the running game will be carrying a heavy load.

Ryan, it is all about the Bobcat Surplus Sale.  But is hiding it on twit the best way to publicize this?  That broad spectrum led to posters here having to ask for the info.  You'd think we'd want to broadcast this widely in order to instill widespread wearing of Bobcat pride.

Bert, the OL will be asked to carry the load of the running game as well as to provide the QB a nice comfortable pocket to wait for Brazil or one of his buddies to gain some sep from the defense.

Is there any good argument against the view that our running game and O-line will be asked to carry us at least for the first part of the season, with our QB asked to do not much more than be solid on safe throws?

Then, hopefully, in the middle part of the season we begin to get  some play-making passing from the QB position.

Observations from todays practice...Tettleton will be the passing Qb with Bates being the change of pace QB...Roback is 270 pounds and will move himself to another position other than Qb if he is smart before the coaches do which will happen at some point because its not working out...I think he would be a great TE or LB. Defense looks great with the secondary being alot bigger and faster. Its still early but looks like this no huddle offense will be great for Ohio.

Thanks BobcatBlitz... Where would you think Kyle Snyder fits in the QB rotation? Is he getting any reps?

My browser must not be working. It's showing me that Roback is at 270 lbs.  ??    What position does that leave him?  Is the speed still there?

'blitz, what do you see that makes you think that the hurry-up is being effective for us?
