I know the game is April 16, but when does spring practice officially start?

Speaking of practice....maybe some of these questions will begin to be answered:

(1)  What position will Derek Roback play (TE-LB-QB)?

(2)  Will RB Beau Blankenship look like someone who will challenge Harden and Boykin for some PT?

(3) Who will be the the other  center besides Skyler Allen?

(4) Will John Prior at RT move Flading to another position on the line?

(5)  Will Kyle Kozak look like a starter at DE?

(6) Are Keller and Brazill and Moore back at 100%?

(7)  What DT's will be part of the rotation?

(8) Who besides Gerald Moore will be at safety?

(9) What kind of activities will they have for Tail Great Park?

(10)  What will G-man have on the menu?

Interesting you left off questions about the quarterback position (other than Roback), such as:
  • Does the coaching staff have Bates still under center or elsewhere in the offense?
  • What order do they seem to be lining the QB's up in?  Does Tettleton get more reps than Snyder, Roback, Bates?

Doc: I'm lazy and don't want to go back through the various threads so could you give us a little snap shot on each transfer such as where he went to HS and their position, their status at the prior university, how many years of eligibility and anything else that quickly comes to your mind?

To your list of questions--are there any stud walk ons that have been participating in weight training that are going to give it a go?

Any spies in the weight room from winter quarter that can tell us who are some of the really hard workers who have shown significant development since the season ended?

Any predictions from this thread of non-2010 starters (perhaps red shirted or JuCO) that will stake a solid claim to a starting position in late August?

I'll predict that Troy Hill will ratchet up his appeal to the coaches several notches and that Bakari Bussey takes over starting at a wideout slot.

QB is a ?....but all I've heard is that Bates is still a QB and it may be his position to lose.

As far as transfers mentioned by MC....the big 3 are Blankenship at RB......Prior at OT....and Kozak at DE:

Beau Blankenship at about  5'8"-220 is a low to the ground RB whose speed has caught the eye of many....was on Tyler Tettleton's Norman OK high school team and was 3rd or 4th string at Iowa State and simply wantd more PT.

John Prior at 6'6"-290  from Portsmouth is a road grader OT.....Florida State was high on him and he apparently transferred because of his mother who was ill.

Kyle Kozak is a 6'5"-250 DE from those fine Pickerington teams a few years back.....was at Indiana but lack of PT also may have caused him to transfer.

Not sure about years left....I think maybe Prior and Blankenship with 3  years and Kozak with 2.

Didn't mention Derek Roback...Waverly boy from Notre Dame....not sure about position....but at about 6'3"-230 with 4.6 speed can play QB or TE or LB....I think he has 4 years left.

All 4 could be impact players.

Agree with you on Hill and Bussey.

As far as non-starters....Jones and Huynh at DT didn't start but saw considerable PT and I expect they'll see a bunch more.....I'm wondering about the other 3 DT's.....Taylor and King and Tarrant.

Look for Anthony Grady to get  a shot at some OLB time.

Safety is the biggest ? for me....will Thad Ingol and Nathan Carpenter get a shot?

Does anyone know the actual time of the spring game? I am trying to possibly attend and the time will make a difference.

I'm guessing we won't see a fancy "Spring Prospectus" again, for cost reasons, but hopefully at some point we'll get a Roster and/or a depth chart to answer some of the many questions.

Wasn't the prospectus a pdf last year?  No printing costs, and the staff is on salary, so...

Knowing Solich as we all do it is doubtful whether he will make any bold statements about any players.
The QB position should be totally up for grabs as Bates is not the man. If he is the starting QB next year then all the others are not very good. I can't believe that one of the guys who red shirted last year isn't better. Phil can't pass and we won't be successful as a 1 dimensional offense. I do trust Frank on his assessment and he won't hesitate to go with a new guy if he believes we will have a better chance to win.
The O line is all intact for next year and should be improved having played together all last year. The O must carry the team with all the new facing on D.
Finally I will guess that we will be picked to finish 3rd in the east in the preseason polls. No surprise here. Until we have a big time QB our preseason position will more than likely not be 1 or 2.

SBH, I checked the website, and the only year we got a Spring Prospectus was 2007. The last couple years we have gotten a Spring roster, though.

We also got video updates several times a week last year that were unthinkable in 2007. Hopefully Evan, Caleb and gang hook us up again this year.

And still no word on the surplus sale, it is ammunition to covert those pesky state fans.

Was reading the quotes from Jimmy Burrow and then Googled him and found this picture of him tackling Joe Washington.

Thanks Jason!!!

Some ?'s have been answered.....others may have been created:

Derek Roback is listed as a QB.

2 players who have a shot at extra pt this year have really bulked up......safety Thad Ingol up to 209 and DT Neil Huynh up to 303.

2 seniors are not on this roster.....CB Kenny Jackson and TE Johan Olyaie.

Speaking of TE's it looks like we picked up a Louisville transfer....class of 09....6'1"-220 TE Nieco Teipel....4.6 speed who also played linebacker and rb in high school....from Ft. Mitchell across the river from Cincy...was listed as a lb at Louisville:

Comments from today's practice: http://www.ohiobobcats.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/033011aaa.html

We may have to sedate Monroe:

Thoughts on the new no-huddle offense:

I think it is some that will help us exponentially. It will condition us and it will keep the defense off track. We’re trying to increase our number of plays that we run in a game. I think we can definitely get it done.

No Laudermilch. Looks like injury has indeed ended his career.

Wells and Smith are two freshmen from February recruiting class on campus.

Maybe we already knew this but no Flowers.
