Local Media comes through again!

As much as I gripe about the Dispatch's homerism, I have to say I forgive all for their role as the NCAA's bloodhound since the first chink in the A&M armor was exposed.  Without Media efforts (Googl currently lists no less than 418 related articles)  this would have been swept under the rug just like Clarett.

Looks like Doug Archie will be the next sacrificial lamb.  What an absolute farce the A&M "compliance" office is...

"The Dispatch reported that Kniffin also said Ohio State officials reviewed sales before they were finalized, while Doug Archie, head of compliance at OSU, disputed Kniffin's assertions.

Archie told the Dispatch that the school will look at the transactions and values, adding that he has no reason to believe a violation occurred."

Seems like that's about all this guy is capable off saying as that was the exact quote from him after the 3rd time Pryor was pulled over while driving a "loaner"...

This is what happens when you form relationships with upstanding citizens like Sarniak and Kniffin.

"Kniffin now owes more than $130,000 to the IRS, and his $570,000 Delaware County home is in foreclosure."

Spot on Chip...

Archie and Smith might want to read that YSU infractions report...It sounds exceedingly familiar...

"The committee said Youngstown State failed to provide appropriate institutional control in its football program by not thoroughly investigating possible violations of NCAA legislation after receiving information concerning possible violations in January 1994. The university reviewed its 1994 internal investigation as a part of its recently concluded examination and determined there that no in-depth investigation had been conducted."

Somehow I think "I have no reason to believe a violation has occurred" just isn't going to cut it anymore...

I won't argue that but I have zero sympathy for someone that looks the other way after the 3rd time their star QB is pulled over driving a loaner especially after the NCAA gave them a pass with Clarett.  My 12 year old Son can tell you there's an issue there.  A&M's arrogance is finally catching up with them on a number of fronts and their arrogant fans are living a reality check.  Apparently Herbstreit was right to be concerned about the way his Alma Mater was doing business...Who knew?

You must really follow that team up 33, I never heard that anyone was pulled over 3 times.  You would think that would raise a red-flag with someone wouldn't ya?  Oh well such is life in the big city, whats the old saying for every decision there is a consequence?

Yeah I do...Trust me when I tell you I'd MUCH rather reside in Athens but the fact that that's not an option at present leaves me having to stay educated (read "armed") in order to survive daily interactions with the A&M lemmings I'm surrounded with including some of my best friends who are otherwise good people...

If you'll note I posted way back in about the middle of this long thread -- about December, I think it was (too lazy to find it right now) that Mr. Pryor had a little car issue and that he kept parking it in places he wasn't suppose to.  This information came straight from friends in Cowtown who are "in the know."  I do have some good, reliable sources in Pancake City.

Let's see, at the schools famous press conference JT told us he didn't tell anybody at the school about the affair because why? Answer, he didn't know who too go to to get advice on the matter. Now he has had a lawyer hired for him for the infractions committee hearing. Not just any lawyer, but a ohio state lawyer who was once on the infractions committee. He didn't know who to talk with?   Does anyone else see a contradiction here? Once again proof that you can't believe anything he says.

There's an article in today's The Record out here in N.J.about Tressel.
It  says that Chris Spielman told the Lima News recently that he doesn't expect Tressel to coach in 2011 because he believes "there is more stuff coming out ."

Writer points out what we've all known for 7 years...Just because the messenger isn't exactly "reputable" doesn't mean the message isn't truthful.

Anyone notice the similarities between the Clarett story and the Canseco story?

Just means that his lawyers and other attorney fees and expenses are coming out of his own pocket, not the University's.

I think Ohio State would just be digging themselves into a deeper hole if they helped paid for Tressel's legal fees...

Those fees will not be insubstantial, will hit six figures in right quick order and keep going.

Pryor was in Athens today.  Went to 8fest and was at the bars after.  He was not well received, and it had nothing to do with the cheating.  For as much as we complain about our students, it was crystal clear whose town this is: Boo Jackson's.

Interesting read: Tressel has his own lawyers.

Key quote:

Shortly after the team returned from New Orleans, Ohio State officials began building an appeal for the players. It was while going through staff emails that they discovered Tressel had known he was using potentially ineligible players throughout the 2010 season.

It looks to me as though Tressel's lawyers will be arguing over one word here "potentially."  Is knowingly using "potentially ineligible" players the same thing as knowingly using "ineligible" players?  It seems to me on such a narrow thread hangs SweaterVest's job.  It also seems from this article that OSU's lawyers and Tressel's lawyers will be adversaries.  All and all, not looking good for Tressel at OSU.  Also, OSU could lose up to 20 scholarships if a violation of "knowingly using ineligible players" is proven.  Ah . . . things in Cowtown are about to get interesting.
