" I love college sports. However, institutions of higher learning are in danger of being torn apart by the win-at-all-cost culture we have created for ourselves." Do you remember who said this? He was president at Vanderbilt at the time. It was said as he was dismantling the athletic program.

A new scandal could be brewing that will make tatoo gate look tame. Bucknuts says that espn is researcing a new scandal that will break either this spring or summer.  It's really getting interesting here in Columbus.

Where did you see this at?  I couldn't find it.

Mr? bobcat Love I am very aware of what he accomplished at Kansas.

Mr. OCF, are you serious??????? He would have NO less experience had Coach Mason taken OU job and left after two years than he did after leaving Kent after two years. Not sure where you learned to do math, but you failed that story problem.

Mr. BC, I wish that I had your ability to foresee the future.  All I said was that I think that Mason would have been at Ohio a little longer -- maybe a year or two -- than he was at Kent, a job he took a year later than the Ohio job. I may or may not be right about that, but you really don't have any more inside information on hypothetical "what if" scenarios than I do.  He was very successful at Kent very quickly.  It may have taken him longer at Ohio to build up the necessary resume to take on a storied program like Kansas.  Or, maybe his daughter (assuming he had one) might have fallen in love with good, old AHS and not wanted to move right then, etc, etc., etc.  You don't know and I don't know.  Stop acting like your crystal ball is clear and everyone else's is foggy.

Google: "OSU point shaving" and you will see what he is referencing.  Some messageboard posts on the topic popped up on various sites last week.  Looks like it's just internet chatter and speculation.  Nothing credible from what I saw.

And I still say you have no basis as to why Ohio University would have kept Mr. Mason's attention more than some other Kent.  You do realize that at that point in time.  Either place for Mr. Mason would have been a stepping stone, and common sense says one would be no more attractive than the other.

I suppose it was only a matter of time until Wanamaker's sunny disposition returned to the board.  Didn't expect it to be under a new username, though.

Actually Mr. OCF, I had an uncle who was a Graduate Assistant with Coach Mason back at Ball State way back in the day, so my crystal ball is not that cloudy.

Great movie and political analogy.  I had a Social Studies teacher back in the day who used the Wizard of Oz to round out our unit on the Progressive Movement.

So now, A&M has suspended LB Dorian Bell for the season for a violation of unspecified team rules:

Maybe he used a pawn shop that's not university-approved.

Looks like it's due to a 3rd violation of the drug and alchohol policy...

But I can't argue that was funny!

Hmm . . . I think you're on to something here.  All of a sudden things are coming into focus.  Who else knows everything about everything and never hesitates to let you know that you are unlearned in the inner workings of intercollegiate athletics.

Forget the Wannabee stuff and answer, "Where are all the Ohio State fans on board here to stick up for their beloved?" heck the cat from Philly gives more and much better effort sticking up for his worthless excuse than you sorry folks and your scarlet and gray love affair.

Thanks for the pics BC36 and McB--.

The deafening silence is just one more indicator of the severity of the situation.  The majority of  my central Ohio friends that are willing to get into a conversation with me about this, fully comprehend the powder keg they're sitting on.  They won't listen to reason about the fact that this "revelation" is really just a confirmation of the smoke that's come from under the A&M blanket since 2002 and YSU befroe that (see links below...the similarities are...well you be the judge), but the majority will acknowledge that it seems obvious Tressel is the sacrificial lamb.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=1920867

http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/news?slug=dw-tressel010707

It entertains me to no end every time I read a headline or hear commentary similar to "I just don't understand why Ohio State can't see how embarrassing this is to the University"...

You know all these media outlets know why...It boils down to none of them having the huevos to put it in print.  Like I've said since the original presser, it's because Smith has known from very early on and now they're dug in so deep they have no other option than to cling to the hope that the media doesn't dig up the proof.   It's all hanging on the media's ability or inability to find that fuse...

The people in that thread are so delusional...

...Everybody knows God is a Penn State fan. How else do you explain Joe Paterno?
