Bell has already transfered to Ga Southern...Vick cuurent is unknown but he may now stay due to the others departing and Snyder is meeting with coaches to request a release..kid could go into Mount Union and start now per my source. He wants to finish the season but who knows what the coaches will do..either way there is a huge QB problem unless your name is Tyler. I say TERRIBLE job by the coaches in at least working your backup into the game plan..I'm sure you guys wondered why Snyder was on kick-off coverage..well my source says Snyder made it known that he was unhappy and that the coaches just put him out there...all the kid wanted was 6-10 snaps a game which seems reasonable for several games. Bigger arm than Tettleton and faster I think someone dropped the ball with this situation..at least work the guy into the gameplan most schools are doing it with their backups that have a skill set.

You would think a coach would not want guys who up and leave a team..BUT everyones situation is unique and  coaches have to WIN to keep their job. Plenty schools want OUr backups especially with the success recently. Happens all the time..this is unique because it is the WHOLE QB group..and most is attributed to how damn good Tyler is as a sophmore...ok and coaches not using the backup.

Dude he didn't demand anything and coaches promised him and Bates several snaps per game. He asked to be involved and wants to be on the field as a QB..he happens to actually be a damn good QB with limited exp who should be worked into the system..this obviuosly did not happen..Bell and Vick had zero chance of staying at QB

Let me engage one piece of common sense in a thread that is more about emotion than fact:  QB's get hurt.  Always.  More so when the qb runs a lot.  So, the odds of our back-up qb seeing playing time over the course of a season are large.

How does the number of snaps that Snyder has taken this year compare to the number that TT took in his freshmen year?

A coach deciding to give his back-up snaps because the player asks?  Not sure that's gonna happen.

Don't most coach's stick with their number one qb if he's doing well--unless there are blow-out games.   How many blow-outs have we had?

blitz--you seem to be reveling in this too much.

You should look at the box scores more often most programs do let the backup see snaps during the game. Snyder stepped on the field in a paltry 4 games as the backup.
NIU who has a one of the nations top QB's...his backup appeared in 11 games...
Toledo used 2 QB's who each played 10 games..stats are almost identical combined 3,000 27 tds
Stanford...backup appeared in 6 games...etc you get the picture.

Either way these guys didn't practice with the team that by itself raised a red-flag when the team is preparing to play for the championship..not 1 player but the whole QB group. NOT GOOD. You think these guys didn't talk to each other about none of them ever seeing the field????? GTFOH

Since when does a backup QB get guaranteed snaps just because he wants some?  I am not sure what will shake out here, but I will say that each of these guys had plently of opportunities during the spring and summer to win the job.  Snaps under center during the season are earned, not allocated.  I don't blame the coaches one bit.  They are playing the guy that gives them the best chance to win.  I cannot imagine Frank ever promised someone playing time, even if they have not earned it.  If the backups were truly team players, they would choose team success over individual desires.

I'd rather have Riley Dunlop as the backup than someone who has bailed on the team, even if it was just for a few days.  Bates included.

blitz. I get it, you think Kyle should have played more.  You know, me too, though down the stretch, the games have been tight and I think the coaches have done a great job getting Ohio this far,  No second guessing here.  It is too bad there were not oportunities for all the backups to play more, but, hey, there were not.

Wow. When I saw the topic line I thought this was going to be a great post.

I'm pretty sure this wins the award for worst post of the year.

Bobcatblitz no offense, but it sure sounds like you're a little too close to the situation and may not be looking at things objectively enough.  Pretty hard to blame the coaches considering we went 9-3 this year and had one of the best performing QB's in the conference.   IF this is true and these guys chose to leave the team at this time then it shows a lack of committment by those players.  I understand it must be tough to know that unless Tettleton gets hurt you probably won't be playing the next 2 years, however at least see this season through and then move on gracefully.  Hopefully these rumors are incorrect.

Lay off the Bates hating.  IMO he can throw at least as well as the O$U freshman.

If there is a player in the MAC who was screwed by his coaches it is the back-up QB from Fiami.  Never having lost a game and leading his team to the MAC east championship, to MAC Champions, to Bowl victors, he doesn' t see the field and the starter goes 4-8, loses to OHIO for his third straight start and finishes just ahead of Akron, Central and Buffalo on the win list!  Austin Boucher, you gonna stick it out?

Anyone at practice want to update the masses on how many QB's are out there right now?? I couldn't attend today...Arkley?? Anyone care that there may be a mass exodus at the most important position??

This is Ohio University, just have Mr. Snyder look at what happened between Boo and Theo, and he would stay for that reason alone. Attitude, Commitment, and Hard Work are what get you a shot, Talent makes the shot last longer.

Got a reliable source says only one QB leaving due to transfer. The rest of this post is a bunch of crap.

Steve Gehlert was third string QB at O$U in 1997 and played against Illinois, then transferred to Mount Union but was not good enough to start, other than holding for field goals.
