The scoop is several Ohio Bobcats did NOT RETURN to the team after the break..word is that they ALL ARE THE ENTIRE ROSTER OF BACK UP QUARTERBACKS NOT NAMED PHIL BATES....SYNDER,VICK,BELL....GONE DUE TO NO PROSPECTS EVER EVER SEEING THE FIELD...TERRIBLE CALL BY SYNDER IMO...THE OTHERS MAYBE BUT SERIOUSLY THIS IS A HUGE BLOW TO OHIO NOW AND IN THE FUTURE...TYLER WILL OBVIOULY NEED A BACKUP.

Just kind of curious what your sources are as well...If you check the Twitter feed of Derrius Vick, 16 hours ago he tweeted

"Welp going back to OU for practice tuesday"

So im not sure what's going on.

Also, if you're looking for credibility, you really aren't achieving it by incorrectly spelling Kyle Snyder's name every single time.

Hey it was pretty late last night! Regardless of the spelling any casual observer would notice that they were not at practice.I guess I should have referenced the bag of potato chips that I was munching on last night. Either way I'm sure the people that cover Ohio football will "break" this story before the bowl game I presume.

This is stupid. TT would have two more years left. With their redshirts, Vick and Bell would have two years to start or battle for the job. Snyder is getting to play right now on kick coverage, maybe a position switch is in the future maybe not. Kid is an athlete.
Can't believe I just justifified this post. What's next frosh guards leaving because Herman and Lechner are back?

If true, it wouldn't be the first time.  All the close games have limited the playing time of these guys.  It actually makes the most sense for Bates who is a senior and seeing almost no playing time.  Ane we continue to recruit 2 or more QB's as we must.

EDIT: It would definately be the first time 3 back up QB's quit over Thanksgiving break for sure.

If this is true, it would be one of the most shocking developments in Bobcat history.  Hard to believe.

If true, UofA would be high on my list if Snyder.  New coach, near hometown, no competition--could be a hero--just have to be better than 1-11.

Tyler is the only QB on the roster now..Bates ..well I wouldn't count him we may as well put Dunlop or THompson behind center either way the game would be lost if Tyler goes down.

He used a red-shirt year already so now if he goes back to FBS he loses another full season..terrible move by Kyle Snyder because he would play due to injury and then have a full year once Tyler graduated.

Just maybe not every player is due back at the same time.  The regulars might have to report earlier to stay in condition and the rest show up for Tuesday practice for preps for NIU.  That way the dept. doesn't have to pay for meals, etc.  I wouldn't jump to conclusions based on not seeing them at practice.  This is purely speculation on my part and not rumored.

I would assume that they would need an additional QB or two to run the practice squad.  Anyway, I'm looking for an official announcement.  Not a good way to start the day.

Shocking and sad if true.......some players like Dovell played QB in high school so they could do some practice squad stuff.

No good news out of this but this years recruiting class has some good QB's left on the board and we have one QB commit already.

If this is all true, then yes it is sad. However, if that is the attitude these guys have, they're not cut out for Ohio football anyways.

Dude everyone is scheduled back at the same time..you don't bring some guys back a couple days before a championship game. No this was not an observation from practice that ohhh there just so happens to be 1 QB here today to conduct a practice  which by itself sounds ridiculous. I say this is a huge deal..you wont have someone who is not a 2nd or even 3rd string QB to make any first downs in a game situations if thrown in there to play. There is a reason Bates has been at WR all season and no if none of the backups return namely Snyder you can cancel it if we lose Tyler.

Yeah I totally agree with you that they have a terrible attitude ..why leave before the BIGGEST 2 games of the season..maybe EVER. The freshman Vick and Bell ok they would never see any real time but Snyder can start for most teams and has a much better arm than Tyler.

If this is true, any chance academics played a role in their departures?

I'm sorry, but if this is true, these guys need to grow up.

I played men's varsity soccer for O.U. (when they had men's varsity soccer).
I  wasn't a starter. I wasn't a starter because the other guys at my position were better players.
In my 2 years on the team I only got to play in a few games.
The thought of quiting never crossed my mind.
I was just proud to have made the team and be able to wear the green and white.
I practiced my ass off every day so that I was ready to play, just in case, and to try to get better to be good enough to start some day.

This sounds very bizarre at the least.
Synder had some kind of incident prior to game 1 and was suspended. Could something else have occurred?
Grades could also play a roll here, however, wouldn't a student then have the ability to re-gain eligibility by next fall?
With all our success and our trip to Detroit & a Bowl Game assured why would a player opt out prior to these 2 games? There is no advantage unless he has been offered a scholarship and has to commit right away?
If true it is more telling about these players than the program as we are now winning consistently.
More to come this week as I'm sure this story will not be easy to keep quiet.

Would everyone please keep a positive outlook here.  Please refrain from going negative toward individuals on the board.  The coaches might be working new starts for some players, in the best interests of both or there might be some issues the coaches will work out with the players given a day or two.  Let us not assume anything, when we assume we ..................

I'll halfway entertain this by saying this one thing.

If I were a head coach at another university, where these or any other player has the talent to play for my school.  I would strongly consider not touching these players with a ten foot pole.  I mean young men transfer to different schools for opportunities to play all the time.  And maybe I am completely out of the loop in terms of the timing of said transfers usually.  But speaking solely for me, an athlete that is "said" to be transferring before a conference championship game?  Especially a QB... just raises red flags for me personally.

Again, I admit to not knowing the "right" time for when an athlete has to transfer.  Or the "usual" time that one does so.  But that said, a QB (your teams leader more often than not) looking to transfer b4 a conference championship or bowl game... seemingly out of the blue, just does not look good to me.  The timing is the big thing for me.  You want playing time sooner than later, fine.  But good grief.

IF, this breaking Bobcat news exclusive, is true.

Found out today I have to leave monday to go back until idk when, not to long

This was Vick's FB post 21 hours ago.  When were the players suppose to report back?  When was the first practice?

I'm more concerned about grades than I am the backups leaving.
