This 110 video now more than 1,000,000 hits in less than six days.
That Golden Flushes video slightly more than 1000 hits and two years old!
Fame vs lame. Nothing more needs to be said.

I bet most of it is from this thread.

I think the Can't video had ~3-400 views when I posted it yesterday.

Correct. It had just barely over 300 when I clicked on it.

1,298,867 hits on YouTube as of 1:00 AM Friday morning, probably will have nearly 2 million hits by Homecoming and it does not include all of the other web sites, TV shows and local/national news shows that it has been on. Dr. Suk as indicated that they probably are going to play it again during their PreGame show at Homecoming. What are they going to do to top this at halftime? Of course, they do have the Alumni Band! With the team doing so well this year, they stand a good chance of winning the game, so it should be an all around great weekend!

Well, I certainly like the 110 and nothing gets my heart pumping better than a spirited rendition of Stand up and Cheer, or the cadence to O-H-I-O cheer, or a spirited half-time performance, but I can also appreciate other band styles.  The video link on HawkTalk to the Tennessee band's performance is a case in point.  It's a completely different style but one that I can thoroughly enjoy.  Nothing wrong with eclectic tastes.

One of my favorite quotes from a Miami person miamisteve:

"the very idea that you can't appreciate a show MUMB does because the music isn't currently playing on the top-40 station of choice is laughable. we're supposed to be miami university. hell, our fan board has a 'wine, cheese, and peanut review' section."

It's nice to know at least someone there knows their own stereotype.

And I grew up in core band, but once I saw the 110 there was only one school I applied to.

Agreed. Has any thread had "Miami" stamped all over it more than that one?

They SOOOOOOOO very much want to be Ohio State's football program: the stodginess, the clinging to the past glories over all else and a flat-out boring product. It's sad, because that's a great program they have in Oxford. But good lord it's a time warp to go to a game there. And not in a good way.

The fact that they even discuss The Marching 110, much less critique it is amusing.  Miami's band last year was horrendous...it reeked of highschool.

This was my favorite quote...

"I agree that OU's would probably be better for game day atmosphere, but I think Miami takes pride in the more classical/academic nature of ours."

Good Lord..."Academic" nature of the band??

Interesting to note, though, that when the 110 played at Tenn. two years ago, their fans raved about the performance for several days on their forum.  Several complained that the 110 put their own band to shame. Personally, I get tired of the obligatory dance routine as part of every show. The past two to three years, the band has shown much more precision and creativity in its marching formations, which I have enjoyed.

I love the 110, but not sure this does them any justice.  That same day the Volunteers drug out Patti Page and had her sing "How much is that doggie in the window".

I'm just one guy...but it didn't go over well.

I have some friends who rave about O$U's band.  I like to tell them that it's a very good band ... for what they do.

Well, I was of course, referring not to the UT band performance when we played them but to the one on the HawkTalk board -- which features some very precision marching routines while playing a number of different songs.

For the record, however, some of us old farts still remember the Singing Rage Miss Pattie Page and all of her hits.  The one you refer to that she sang that night always reminds of a pleasant grade school memory when one of my friends sang it the school playground.   Again, I guess I make a case for eclecticism in band appreciation.  One can love the 110 and still appreciate other types of bands and what they do -- except maybe that totally hopeless band from a small quaint village in Southwestern Ohio.

And a lot of UT fans don't like the band because they are boring and do the same thing every game, every year. They even use the 110 in a thread about the POTSMB.

Rocky Top in mandarin Chinese gets a little old after  a while.....plus I think their main song for OUr game was the 1950's "How Much Is that Doggie in the Window"....what's next a Gilligans Island tribute?

All I can say, Doc, is that some people will complain about nearly everything.  There are even those who complain about the 110.  I just like a wide variety of styles and types of bands.  But, what do you expect from someone who likes music from a wide range of genres: classical, rock, some country and western, bluegrass, traditional Appalachian, Civil War era, show tunes, Gay '90s, some jazz, gospel, ragtime, ballads, folk, do-wop, bubblegum, novelty tunes, etc.

Does anyone have ability to post on that redhawk thread?  It would be nice to remind them about the time that the 110 played at redhawk.  Very enthusiastically received...and the redhawk band was booed by their own.

We beat up POTS pretty bad on here for the Doggie in the Window fiasco but the link below shows what they can really do. Can you imagine the practice hours for something like this? It makes Script Ohio look like child's play. The better college marching bands seem to find a style that works and keep building on it. That's what the 110 has done. Their unique style certainly separates them from the rest and I love it.

An ad for the 110's black shirt popped up as a Facebook ad today:  https://cbsohiou.3dcartstores.com/Black-tee-Lose-Your-Mind-supporting-the-110-uniform-fund-14520_p_74-2445.html

Only $11.99 and $2 of the proceeds goes to the 100 Uniform Fund!

Up over 2.2 million...probably over 3 million if you add all the other videos of the same thing posted.  Unreal.

The Ohio University Marching 110 was a Editor's Note Pop-Up Story on the msn.com site earlier today. Pretty Cool as they have had over 2.2 million hits on YouTube now and counting.......and some people thought it would fizzle out and be no where near 2 million even by Homecoming!

The 110 was tremendous in Buffalo.  Especially in the post game performance.  Too bad more people didn't stay to hear it.
