It's not often you see an offense being too conservative AND too aggressive at the same time, but it happened tonight.  They went run-only way too early in the 4th quarter, keeping the D on the field too much.  Then the throw into triple coverage when they should milk the clock at the 9 minute mark was just plain stupid.  They were beating NIU with dinks and dunks all night, then just stopped.  Never get away from a winning game plan.

I'm as big a Solich as they come.  But I'm beginning to wonder if 9 wins is his limit for a season.  Not that winning 9 every year would be bad.  But it would be nice if some year the 9th one would be in the post season.

And remember Tyler is still just a sophomore, with a lot of learning to do.  The next two years should be good.

looking at the game there ere many key mistakes like the missed field goal or the dropped touchdown but I still think that the play action pass for the interception was the biggest mistake of the game.  Look at what we had going for us it was first down near midfield than we call that play.  When that ball left his hands I knew it was trouble.  The fact that that play was even called amazes me.

God bless you!  A voice of reason is a sea of anger and pain.  I don't know how you do it-I can barely think right now.

You're right-Tettleton will get better.  The question I keep asking myself is, when will we actually WIN a championship?  When will we win in the postseason?  When will we get over the hump?  As much as I like winning regular season games, those 9 prior games Ohio's won this year seem pretty unfulfilling.

Plenty of blame to go around...but seriously, fire Albin. We could do so much better with a different guy running the offense. I'm convinced Frank is the only man in the program that likes him.

Yeah...yeah..let's fire him, fire all the coaches, fire the athletic director.  What we we need to remember is a missed field goal, a dropped TD pass, and blown coverage/mismatches on defense all contributed to this collapse.  The players still have to play and execute.  This game was still very winnable as it was coached.

This game is not on the players at all so many points where left on the board because the play calling abruptly took another course at key moments

You forgot the personal fouls, dropped int, and bad snap.

those were all pivotal mistakes in the game but we were still in the lead by a fair margin.  The interception on the play action pass not only was a huge mistake but also was a huge momentum shift.  OU could of wasted precious minutes but instead gave them the ball with great field position. it was also first down.

Having done so much of it myself over the years, second guessing play calling is the easiest thing in the world to do. But the short passing game that worked in the first half disappeared. And didn't get the pass down the middle to Brazill after they handed us the first down. Not sure if TT has the option of checking out of that. Even if we run three plays there and punt, we're up two scores with about 6-7 minutes left.

I think this all boils down to whether or not we understand the lesson from The Jerk....

Typical rant, even predictable.  Credit to NIU's seniors who had learned this hard lesson last year and refused to quit.  I hope Lavon will be able to purge from his memory the touchdown that was not.  He has given us so many great ones.  I would like the head of the Ohio coach responsible for the personal fouls, very disappointing.
Credit to NIU, Harnish, the MAC offensive player of the year, and all their other seniors.  They may be very proud of their championship.  I expect Ohio to be back, heavy senior loses, yet, bigger, stronger & faster the Bobcats should be back,  perhaps with their own MAC POY to finally to take it all.

I don't care if it's Albin on not, somebody MUST go.  Gift wrapped that championship to NIU after abandoning the short yardage passing game.  Can't believe I wasted my time and money to watch a collapse of epic proportions.

Jughead, can't believe I am taking my time to comment on your rant. Disappointed are you?  Did you really expect NIU to play the whole game like their first half?  Credit to Ohio for a great first half and credit to NIU for their great second half.  Now if you can determine the coach responsible for those personal fouls I would be with you in calling for his head.  Intereting how entitled some Ohio fans feel now.  "somebody MUST go."  Not a bit of loyalty for a staff that has brought Ohio from the bottom ten to within 5 seconds of a championship.  Starting to feel like a Nebraska board around here.

My gawd.  Did you see those two offside penalties by NIU that gave us first downs?  Could NIU have tried harder to give us the game?

The players made mistakes.  The two intentional foul penalties by our d-linemen were absurd.  How immature; play with anger and emotion in regard to the action but play under control in regard to the players.

But this had very little to do with our players.  This was all about the coaching.  All the timid FETAL POSITION mental decisions in our approach to the second half as stated in the posts in this thread.

Not at all on the players huh?.....I guess the coaches must have been the ones out there with the pads on.  Give me a break.
