You may have a break.

The int was not particularly a great play by their db.  The ball was underthrown.  One of the few weaknesses in TT's game is that he doesn't have a huge arm.  We can hardly compain about that given all that he's done this year.

The ball that LaVon dropped in the endzone was kinda a gift, by the way.  He was basically quite well covered except that he did a nice job of getting to the spot of the ball and/or the db's didn't play the ball well.

Lavon looked to be badly interfered with on that drop. Looked like two guys were tripping him as he went for the ball. Lavon does NOT get the calls that other star receivers in this league get

It's not often you see an offense being too conservative AND too aggressive at the same time, but it happened tonight.  They went run-only way too early in the 4th quarter, keeping the D on the field too much.  Then the throw into triple coverage when they should milk the clock at the 9 minute mark was just plain stupid.  They were beating NIU with dinks and dunks all night, then just stopped.  Never get away from a winning game plan.

I'm as big a Solich as they come.  But I'm beginning to wonder if 9 wins is his limit for a season.  Not that winning 9 every year would be bad.  But it would be nice if some year the 9th one would be in the post season.

And remember Tyler is still just a sophomore, with a lot of learning to do.  The next two years should be good.

I was wondering the same thing about Solich as well. Again, I'm a big Solich fan too and love what he's done with the program. But his biggest downside is that he has not been able to win "the big game" -- either at Nebraska or Ohio. Let's hope he breaks the jinx in this year's bowl game.

I don't care if it's Albin on not, somebody MUST go.  Gift wrapped that championship to NIU after abandoning the short yardage passing game.  Can't believe I wasted my time and money to watch a collapse of epic proportions.

Jughead, can't believe I am taking my time to comment on your rant. Disappointed are you?  Did you really expect NIU to play the whole game like their first half?  Credit to Ohio for a great first half and credit to NIU for their great second half.  Now if you can determine the coach responsible for those personal fouls I would be with you in calling for his head.  Intereting how entitled some Ohio fans feel now.  "somebody MUST go."  Not a bit of loyalty for a staff that has brought Ohio from the bottom ten to within 5 seconds of a championship.  Starting to feel like a Nebraska board around here.

Sure I'm disappointed.  I'd have to believe that we all are.  I also expected NIU to put up points, more than what they did for that matter.  However, I cannot accept the abandonment of the only part of the game that was working well.  I just watched the replay, and what I saw at the game did not change.

There were only a handful of good offensive plays in the second half:
  • A 3rd and 8 conversion for 9 yards to a Dunlop,
  • A couple scrambles/rushes by Harden and Tettleton
We had less than 80 total yards in the second half, 10 of which came on offside penalties.  I refuse to believe that we couldn't move the ball due to defensive adjustments because that is simply untrue. From what I could see (a.k.a. in my opinion) we were attempting not to lose by changing the team we are (spread option run/slant passes to WR/TE's) to something we aren't (deep threat and power rushing.)   This has happened more than once this year (and in past years) and I believe that someone should be held responsible.  The deep play-action pass on first down after NIU gave us a first down was mind-boggling, but there were other plays called that were just as dumb.

Didn't know where to put this and I hate singling out players, but since Bcat2 brought this up,  I think Curtis Meyers needs to sit for a while. He was really lucky that he wasn't ejected for his takedown on the NIU WR after the false start, but he was also shoving some of the players after the field goal at the end of the game.

On a good note, I believe that the defense played quite well until the final 8 minutes of the game (of which they were out on the field the majority.)

Albin is the only coach that showed improvement, the offense was excellent. This one is on the players. The players have to execute better. Go Cats 2012

Also, why did the D continue to put a LB on their best WR in the 2nd half? Moore got burned every time and each time it was a 30+ gain or a TD. Not his fault, but the coaches fault who should have had a DB out there.

It wasn't Moore. It was Carpenter. You know brother of linebacker Bobby.

Unfortunately Nathan is really a linebacker with safety size. No business being one on one with their best playmaker. Inexcusable. Cost us time and time again. No accountability by the coaches to change that up.

Carpenter is a safety!

GD!!!! We were lights out in the 1st half. Then we go into this BS, wussy, play callin the 2nd half, like the game was over. WTF!!!! We have NO killer instinct! We need to stomp teams when they're down. Did we really think 20 pts  would win this game?? Fire Albin

It was obvious when we came out the second half that the coaches' intentions were to be conservative and sit on a 20 point lead. Unfortunately NIU has put up More than 50 points more than once this year.

Solich won at Nebraska ie 1997.

To fire Albin and or Solich would cause problems. We have a phenomenal qb who has worked for 3 years now with these coaches and this system. And he's played a full season only once.  Yes, we should magnify this game and what went wrong is extremely disappointing. However, when you look long term and what we have for our future it looks promising. Yea, Albin called the pass plays on 1st down when he should have run it in the fourth quarter. But how many times did TT throw into double and triple coverage against NIU and this season for that matter. He's still maturing and he won't make those throws in the future. Late in the season he learned to throw the ball away. I would bet he wanted to make that BIG throw because it was a BIG game. And many times if he didn't see something down field, he would see a lane and take it. Our coaching staff and our players got us to that game and now to the Potato Bowl. And in the next 2 years, we'll have a MAC Championship with Tettleton at the helm.
