i'm pretty sure rufus is considered a part of the cheer squad, which means the cheer coach should be on top of the situation. can you honestly say that if you had someone working in your office and you were in charge you wouldn't know whether they actually worked there. heads should roll.
The cheerleading squad and coach has nothing to do with Rufus, even though it would make sense. He doesn't even ride on the same bus to the away games. (The bobcat doesn't even go to most away games, the only one I can remember Rufus attending was the Miami game in 04).
We had nothing to do with his try-out, selection, interviewing, training, conditioning, or anything else for that matter.
The only interaction I had with whoever was inside the bobcat would usually happen during the MAC bball tourney in Cleveland and the MAC Champ game in Detriot and the bowl games.
I have no idea who's responsibility Rufus (and the student inside of his) is, but it is not that of the Cheer Coach's.
Edit to add:
Now that I've actually watched the video, it amazes me that not a single person even seems to bat an eyelash during the whole ordeal, from the guy helping Brutus running the flag, to the football team kneeling in the endzone as Rufus and Brutus roll around on the ground.
Not saying I think it was a great move, but it's probably one of the more ballsy things I have ever witnessed. I've pushed my share of mascotts in my day, but never have I once thought about tackling him as he ran the football team into the stadium.
