Front page, above the fold in Columbus this morning.

God Bless America!
Where else but in sanctimonious Columbus Ohio would a mascot tiff be front page news three days after it happened.  I agree with everyone else who has said it.  A&M, it's time to get over yourselves.

Yeah, Rufus screwed up but he hurt himself more than he hurt Brutus or A&M.

It was nothing but funny - still is.  No underlying meaning, no fued simmering, nothin'.  College antics.  Despite the pro sports programs, OSU is still just a college, isn't it?

If Brutus the Buckeye were held at gunpoint, would an Ohio State Cheerleader come to his assistance?

Nope, they would just wave their pom poms and yell "Go Bucks!"

What is really sad is the level in which some have to stoop to find satisfaction.  We got our buts kicked, Rufus got embarassed, he missed, he lost his head, he had to run down the field and jump on a person's back, and the entire time the person he is attacking isn't even fighting back.  Makes him look like a real man!

Folks.  This is awesome.

It was also shown at half time of Monday Night Football last night.

Certainly lots more folks in the country know there's an Ohio as well as an Ohio State.

Take a deep breath and keep you sense of humor folks.  This is funny.  And, doesn't mean *&%# in the grand scheme of life.

But he's not a man? He's a BOBCAT! They pounce and if they miss they keep going after the prey, which in most cases is helpless and unable to fight back. Sounds like he did a good job to me!

Hypocrisy at it's finest.

You complain that we get Script Ohio from Michigan.

Just where do you think Marching 110 came from?  That's right.  Michigan.

And the Diamond Ohio comes from OSU.

I agree that this scenario is an embarrassment to the University and I wish it hadn't happened. However, I'm surprised at how this is being covered- there seems to be more joy in watching the Buckeyes get taken down a notch by the underdog(cat) than outrage at the inappropriateness of it. And I agree that the photo can not be viewed without laugh out loud at it.  oh well.

I think the idea behind it is funny.  I think doing it while he's running with the flag was the part that was in bad taste.  Then to go after him again after the realization that there wasn't going to be reciprocation is where the main issue is.

Unfortunately this slack-jawed, knuckle-dragger is now the most famous citizen of Meigs County.  I guess this just further describes how desperate this doofus must be when his only goal in life is to tackle a mascot.  Blown out of proportion, certainly... dumber than hell, absolutely.

I hear Jerry Springer will be his next stop but he'll have to skip his technical writing class at Hocking to make it on time.  Maybe we can get a cage match at the WWE between Rufus and Brutus - I'll give Vince a call!

I find this compelling because he signed up for the job just do this! It wasn't some spur of the moment fracas where he temporarily lost his cool. He had a goal and completed his mission. Well done! Bravo!

Some may disagree, but it was harmless fun.

Yeah execution and timing could have been alot better. It was pretty bogus to do while they're running on the field, waiting till they were both on the sidelines would have been more harmless fun. BUT, since they still refuse to carry a flag that spells out STATE behind the flag that spells out OUr school I can understand why he did it when he did.

That would be a logistical issue though.  I mean not only are you going to have to find 5 more sets of people to carry each letter in STATE, but now do you need an additional group for the space?  What about The?  Should we put University in it as well?

Whether or not I think this was in good taste, 69 hammers home the point.  Isn't this what everyone gets so upset about?  Even though I root for both schools, it does make me sick when you say Ohio, and people think State.  I cannot tell you how many times I was with the 110 in foreign territory and someone said "Go Bucks!"

This clown got himself (and OU) on ESPN.com, SportsCenter, SportsNation, Monday Night Football, MSN.com and Yahoo.  You have to appreciate the genius behind it, as the University cannot do a thing about it since he dropped out of school.  And he'll never have to pay for another drink again in Ann Arbor, Athens, Iowa City, Madison, or Happy Valley.

BLove was looking for a 'unifying event' to bring OU fans closer together to support OU athletics.  This may well qualify...

This may qualify as the first decent post from a OSU fan on here.  He's right though.  Can we really expect them to find five more people from OSU capable of running and carrying and a flag?  We should be proud of them that they even managed to get the five people they have to carry Ohio and the logo.

Let alone put the letters in the right order.  Now granted they can practice every time they hear the cheer going around the stadium, so it's hard to get it wrong.

Of course, Brutus actually knows to wrap up when tackling someone and wouldn't get stiff armed out of the way like Rufus did.  :D

I've honestly never experienced this part.  Hell the only time I ever get a "Go Bucks!" is when I actually have Ohio State apparel on.

And frankly, if I were in the situation where someone said Go Bucks (and I was an OU alum), frankly, I'd just reply back, "Go Bobcats!" and watch the look on their face.

Let's see.......hmmmm..Michigan runs Michigan flags, so Michigan STATE runs flags that say STATE....Now how silly would it be for Michigan State to run flags that say Michigan!!  Wouldn't the same be true here in Ohio?

When I make my next contribution to the Bobcat Club, instead of football scholarships or the indoor arena, it will be to the Ohio Marketing Department, the parents of Rufus.  Checking the internet  a few minutes ago, I saw where more tha  500  different news outlets have featured Rufus putting the hit on that lame Buckeye.  Despite what a few old  fuddy duddies on this board whine,  it was great fun and great pr (just spell the bame right).  It was the creation of a legend that will go on for  years because we won't let Moo U  forget.  Ted should put up a permanent Rufus site on this board.  The marketing department should sell reprints of the photos.  I can't wait to see what they have in store for Miami  The cheerleader supporters should stop being defensive and get on the Rufus Express.  This is more than 15 minutes of fame if we play it right.
