What happened to 113? Now it's 300? Do they really know the number or do they pull a number out of the hat and bad mouth us about it?  Oh, I forgot, if it is a number higher than the the number of fingers and toes, they have no perception of what that number is?

my dad is a herd fan and will happily admit that he thinks that herd fans at the joan are just terrible.  we went to the I-AA championship there in 1995 and the way that the fans treated the opposition (players and fans) was downright awful and embarrassing for the community of huntington.
This sir is an out right lie. I dont know why you feel the need to lie and lead others to believe this. What ever floats your boat I guess. To ALL real Bobcat fans. Have a safe trip to Huntington,,,get there early and visit the chilifest and enjoy your day. I am positive you can easily find Marshall fans courteous and ready to invite you to hang out and tailgate. Have a safe trip home after the game. I for one am happy to see this series renewed.

I am almost as excited about reading the stories from the stands during the game as I am the game itself.

Ohio fan: "You wouldn't believe what happened to me and my family in Section 103. A Marshall fan behind me ripped off his shirt Hulk Hogan style and poured beers all over my wife and kids faces laughing hysterically when Marshall kicked a FG late in the 4th Qrt. to cut the deficit to 38-3."

Marshall fan: "IMPOSSIBLE! YOU MADE THIS UP! Here's an online link to all the online reviews that other teams fans said about how pristine and wonderful Huntington and it's residents are. See? Told you so!"

From the Charleston Gazette:

MU's season-ticket sales dipped a little, topping 12,600 with a late push. In 2011, that figure was right near 13,000.

"I look around the country, and they're dipping everywhere," said athletic director Mike Hamrick. "But we had a huge single-game crowd Saturday for Western Carolina. I don't look at it as a significant dip."

With no television and a lot of excitement surrounding the Ohio program, expect a larger walk-up crowd if the weather holds up. OU sold its allotment of 300 tickets, which didn't always happen when Marshall was in the Mid-American Conference.

So it looks like we'll have 300 fans there.

But our Herd buddies supplied a link to a website that said something completely different.  Next thing you know we'll have a multi-page thread telling us we don't support our team and Marshall fans are wonderful.

Ohio had sold 113 tickets as of the beginning of the week.  The total is up to 300 now.  What is so hard to understand about that?

A 300 ticket allotment though?  Wow.  Whatever.  It is what it is.

Our radio guys said he heard Ohio has only sold 113 tickets last week he followed that up by saying he hoped that was wrong.  Last night on the radio, our athletic director said Ohio only requested 300 tickets and sold them all.  Our AD said he expects about 500-700 Ohio fans at the game.  Which is absolutely pathetic.  This could be the best Ohio team you will ever experience in your lifetime and they are playing 80 miles away.  Meanwhile, you guys will be sitting at home watching CSI reruns and telling your buddies, "Man, I heard those Huntington people are mean.  No way was I gonna risk my life to watch that game."

In Athens, you're fans when it is convenient.

In Huntington, we live for this.

Well, penn2Moss, I'm not sure how many fans we'll have there tomorrow, but 500--700 admittedly isn't very good. It'll be hard to tell because Ohio fans will be scattered throughout the stadium.

Also, a lot of Ohio fans, including me, bought our tix through the Marshall ticket office...hard to tell how many that will amount to.

We traveled well to Penn State.  We traveled very well to our NCAA tournament basketball games.

One thing you have to take into consideration is that most of our fan base is not in Athens.  With Marshall, you are in a metro area of over 300,000 and you're adjacent to the Charleston SMSA, and a lot of those folks are Marshall fans.  So it's easier to travel in large numbers to places like Ohio Univ.

I remember when Marshall would be playing in the MAC tournament in Cleveland and brought hardly anyone. I am growing tired of the lecturing from some Marshall fans. Geesh

No one can put a number on how many fans we are bringing because nobody knows out of all the tickets sold how many our ohio fans (besides the ones bought through us). I bought 4 off the marshall site not in our section. Im sure alot of other people did that to.

Thats fine.

Lets say that the same amount of fans that bought from you, bought from us.  Which isnt likely, but just for giggles.

No, actually, lets do this.  lets pretend that TWICE as many people from OU bought from us that bought from you, that still puts you all at less than a thousand fans.

Really????

WRONG! We will be sitting at home watching CSI reruns, drinking 40s, and arguing with our buddies over who's hotter, Catherine or Sara.

/was the standard evening routine in my apartment in college.
//the answer clearly is Catherine.

Well I'll be there with 5 others and just for the sake of argument I'd rather have 500-700 Ohio fans at Marshall being loud and proud over 5000 fans sitting on their hands being quiet because their team is out of the game by the end of the third quarter like in Peden last year, just saying. But if I'm a betting man I'm sure all fans at the game who is wearing hunter green will make their presence known and I'm willing to bet a lot of people bought through Marshall because of the low ticket allotment. I have a feeling the Ohio fan base might show up in a surprise number either through walk ups, or like I said earlier they bought tickets through Marshall because no disrespect intended here, but I feel Marshall is a much more competitive rival compared to Miami and I might not be the only one who feels that way....

any feel for how many students might be making the trip?

I agree on Marshall being a better rivalry than Miami.

This has been mentioned elsewhere, but the Marshall ticket office is excellent to deal with.  Very professional and cordial.  While we're sniping at each other, gotta give credit where credit is due.

My comment was of course positive, and I say it because of the student interest I've seen.

I'm going... with friends, and we've never gone to an OHIO away game before.  I'd expect there are hundreds more like us who will be in Huntington.  And we all bought our tickets from the MU ticket office. Also the Marching 110 will be there and their parents and fans.

Pretty sure Marshall fans are gonna be whispering to each other... wow, they showed up

It will be very apparent which fans are Ohio fans when you all are leaving the stadium in the 3rd quarter.

I'm curious to what this mass exodus of Ohio is going to look like on the highway, you can't ALL hog the fast lane can you?

Bunch of FIFOs are going to make getting anywhere in Huntington impossible tomorrow.

I ordered my 3 tickets today; have a group of around 10 going total.  The OU section is filled at least 35 rows up in sect. 103; how many is that?

Still about 18 rows or so above you.

Also, considering that will be where your band is as well, and they will take up 10 to 12 rows, then that is really not a whole lot.
