UMass showed improvement vs. Miami on the road.  I don't think this will be a complete blowout.

Goal:  Go 1-0 this week vs. UMass.

+1
I'm expecting a 42-17 win. Not necessarily a close game, but not a blowout.

Ohio is used to playing in large, empty NFL stadiums.  That's where the beating of Temple took place every other year.  They also have played in Detroit several times, although with less impressive results.

UMass is really struggling with the transition to D1.  I hope for the same thing as last week:  comfortable win, no injuries, bland play calling and a safe trip home.  For D.A.'s sake, I hope it is a beautiful day and he makes the short trip home hoarse from doing the O-H-I-O cheer so many times.

It's looking like rain, which I think plays in our favor of our run D v their inexperience with the pistol. (although they are getting progressively better)  And I expect a big dose of Beau/Daz/Kyle, regardless of TT or Vick running the show.

And thanks for the well wishes on the Bash weather, because if it rains, it may kill me.  230 wet and "altered" Bobcats could make for an interesting pre-game, though.

Last weather forcast said rain in the morning as the low travels by on the cold front boundry. Then cloudy until till Sunday evening, when the next low front travels by.  Definitely not a wash out and perhaps some sprinkles.

This forcast is a bit more vague, leaning to more showers with some later on Saturday.

Time to update with the hourly forcast of 20% rain during game time.

This is the 2nd of three games on Ohio's schedule against teams with new head coaches (Penn St and Akron are the other two).  I think we're hitting them at a good time.  They're still learning the system and are improving every week.  They probably won't win this week or next @WMU, but they have several winnable games in the last half of the season -- home vs. BGSUcks (after a bye week), Buffalo and CMU, and at Akron.  I'm hoping Ohio can take control of this one early, get a 30-35 point at the half and get out of there with a comfortable win and few injuries.  Ohio's running game will be important here, to keep T2 from getting banged up even further.

Webcast: ESPN3

Is there anyway to get ESPN3 at all if your internet provider isn't a subscriber?  Seems like the least they could do is offer a monthly subscription.

There is no pay option. ESPN is trying to put leverage on ISP's to get subscription dollars.

Thanks, but not finding it on that website.  Went to FirstRow, but the link for Ohio/Mass takes you to OSU/MSU game.  Anyone else find it other than ESPN3?

Defense is definitely coming out of the gates slow. Give them the halftime pep-talk they need to hear, Offense needs to keep the team in it. First half definitely looking ugly so far.

In other news, Blankenship already has over 100 yards rushing. He's on pace to break 200, easy.

OUr game isn't available at this site (?)

It's 5:30 and I've decided I'm glad I haven't found a video stream (UMass 24, Ohio 20) ... Looks like the Minutemen made good adjustments at Halftime ... and, well ...

Nice call Solich declining a holding call which ends up costing us a touchdown on defense. What could he have possibly be thinking.

This isn't sounding or feeling like it will have a happy ending. Rob suggested "we are being outplayed" ... and it's versus arguably the worst team in D-1! Anybody out there still worrying about what whoever is doing anywhere but in Foxboro?!!

I did not understand not taking the penalty at all.

I am in official blame Sports Illustrated mode! Just the mention of that publication has jinxed us!

Extremely disappointing performance against UMass so far.  Where's the defense? Now a blocked kick after getting a lucky fumble. No points...Looks Bad unless OUr team can turn this around.

Update: Well, a win is a win I guess. Defense finally showed up....sort of when it counted. Just trying to imagine how the game could've went if we didn't have Blankenship. Hopefully this is a wake up call for the rest of the team to step it up.
