My 2 cents:

1) I've NEVER heard Oklahoma referred to as OU. I've seen it printed that way in logo form or on uniforms, but never spoken.

Kevin Negandhi did multiple times yesterday on CFB Daily on ESPNU.  And watch an OU game sometime.

I would personally love to see this chant about 5 minutes before game time.  Imagine being one of the players and hearing that chant in the locker room.  What a great way to get the players pumped up for the game.

Heck yeah!  Can you imagine...Peden under the lights, ESPN cameras in the house (BLACKOUT for BG) and the crowd roaring.  Man...big time.

I also loved when i was in school the chant i believe it was in basketball
one corner said O
the next said H
the third said I
and the fourth said O

then it got faster and faster until it ended with a big

I couldn't be at the game but watched it on ESPN 3 and the chant sounded fantastic! I also think this will stick!

My wife caught this on video and it turned out well.  I'm hopeful this could be carried over into basketball season as well.  Great work by those who put the idea together.

The video RPKirtland posted is making big waves among OU supporters on Facebook.  All positive... We absolutely need to continue this (as we already knew)

3 of my friends and 4 OU Facebook pages I follow have shared this video (with over 18,600 combined fans).  From that, Facebook is showing 29 additional shares.  That is insane exposure, and it is all positive.

Good news, again! The video is now sitting at 1,500 views. Keep on sharing and posting! Make this famous!

The OU Alumni Page has also shared it, which is almost every major OU facebook page and some more minor ones.  3600+ views!

Marshall and Penn State both do the We Are chant. I'm not a huge fan of the OU/Oh Yeah simply because I'd like to have the actual name of our school in the cheer, but it is original, which I think trumps everything else. I wish the school up north hadn't taken the O-H...I-O. That really should be ours, but obviously we can't use that.

The only other ones I have thought of are: Let's go.........Bobcats!! and O...Hi....O. The latter could be done with the student section doing both of the "O's" and the tower side taking the "Hi" in the middle..

Screw them, they aren't OH-IO. Let's take what is ours.

Not that my opinion matters much as I'm not an Ohio fan....but I agree with this. To me something with just OHIO would be better.  Maybe that's because the Oh Yeah reminds me of the big pitcher of Kool-aid in the commercials. If you have to do OH...IO, do it.  Doesn't matter if Ohio State does it too. You guys are Ohio. Just my 2 cents.

I can't say I disagree with you. It would be awkward at first because it would be like "we've stole this from Ohio State" but after awhile if we own it make it ours then maybe it turns into "screw them if they did it first, its our name, not theirs." I don't know.

it would be kind of funny to watch their fans tie themselves in knots trying to explain how that's their cheer, but its not their name, but they hate it when Michigan calls them by that, but they don't want us using even though its our name, etc. In fact it might be worth doing, simply for that reason. OWN it.

I'd rather do something with The Real O-H-I-O than try to take O-H I-O.

On the ESPN/CBS/NBC tickers Oklahoma is referred to as OU.

I may be off my rocker, but I kinda like the association with the Kool-Aid man.  He's a laid back kind of guy, and as OU is notorious for it's fun, laid back atmosphere, it's not the worst thing ever.  I actually thought the same thing when I first heard it and liked it.  I suppose others don't and won't see it that way, so to each their own, hahaha.

I was watching the game on TV (though the comp) and had run into the other room for a minute. I heard this chant begin and RAN back into the room to participate in the chant. My gf thought I was crazy (well, I think I just confirmed that I was crazy) as she had no idea what a big deal this was. It sounded like big time football in little Peden Stadium!! I was stoked and I cannot wait to hear this on National TV when BGSUcks is in town!!!! Great job to everyone there and to everyone that participated! I just hope you were STANDING when you were screaming it! Two teams in the Top 25 at the same time!! Its a great time to be a Bobcat!!

OU OH YEA!!!!!!!!

I'm telling you guys now, "OU Oh Yeah" is putting the last nail in the coffin to being referred to locally as "OHIO", and perhaps nationally.

Branding is merely repetition of a title. Enjoy being lousy, just a party-school "OU" when you could be OHIO.

Cool, we get it. And there's really nothing lousy about being OU. This is one frickin' chant, and a few people are just completely missing the point.

You can't stop it. It's happening. When I was on campus for five years, "OU, Oh yeah!" was a term of endearment, and I have only the best memories of my time in Athens when I think of "OU, Oh yeah!"

You may not like it, and you may think we're all stupid for liking it because it's "not Ohio," but it's rather simple: you like it or you don't. There's no changing what other people will think about it, so you can either hop on the bandwagon or just sit with your arms crossed like a curmudgeon. Either way, it's going to happen, because it's special to us and if it's special to us, people will understand.

Well, it's at least better than doing the A&M cheer and adding "U." on the end.  That was the worst idea ever.

You can complain all you want about us not using OHIO in a chant but in the last decade OU Oh Yeah has become the default chant for the university.  Many times I have walked by someone and gave an Oh Yeah response to OU or did the reverse.  Until you can come up with something else that is original and catchy and which people don't associate to tOSU this will be OUr chant.

At the MAC title game, NIU did something late and all of their fans started chanting NIU!  NIU!  NIU!

A few plays later, we got the ball back and I tried to start a chant "O-HI-O!" with some others with the same cadence as the NIU! chants.

However, it was overtaken by OU OU OU!

It was a thing of sheer beauty.  My inner conspiracy theorist suggests that was one of the reasons why there were two different OU sections at the Shoe.  It's corny, maybe a little annoying, but if it irritates Ohio State fans, I'm all for it.

1. There are some really uptight people on this thread.

2. LOVED the OU / OH Yeah cheer on Saturday. Have never been a big fan of the cheer myself but the way you guys used it to get the stadium to interact with each other was brilliant, and it was the best and most fitting the cheer has ever been.

3. Don't overthink it. You're getting a lot of opinions ("it has to be done every game during pregame, and at the start of the 1st and 3rd quarters, and let's make sure it's when TV is back from commercials, and don't disturb the offense, and blah, blah, blah"). Organic cheers are the ones that survive. Finding 2 or 3 appropriate times a game to do it is great, driving it into the ground will make everyone like it about as much as the wave.

4. The OH-IO ship has sailed. That's OSU's cheer. We're clever enough to come up with something that can be our own.

5. For those aching to have OHIO incorporated in a cheer, you're aware of the O *clap, clap, clap* H *clap, clap, clap* etc. cheer, right? I know this will be shocking to 99% of you but instead of shouting O!!!!! at the end of that, you're actually supposed to say "OHIO!!!!" (which if you think about it makes more sense, since we're cheering for the school OHIO, not the letter O).
