I never understood why Akron never struck while the iron was hot with the Dambrot/Lebron's teammates from St.V. era and built a new arena and got out of the hot mess known as the JAR.

Somebody from the Akron area probably knows the details, but I vaguely remember a tax levy that was proposed to build a new arena that the city and university shared. Never got off the ground from what I recall.

I expect less than 2K at this game. Depending on how many x-mas ales I consume on Thanksgiving, I may try to make it. Speaking of which, shout out to Jackie O's for making a smooth x-mas ale this year at 5.6 ABV.

Complete and total apathy from the locals. As nice as that stadium is the population looks at it as something they never asked for nor wanted and kind of wonder why it is there. No one goes to games at The JAR and probably wouldn't go to a game at a new arena. Huge identity issue with the University of Akron and the city of Akron that goes far beyond sports.

Except for a few big rivalries Thanksgiving weekend games are pretty much a bust north of the Mason-Dixon line. Weather is usually a big factor, and casual fans have lost interest if the game has little or no meaning regarding conference championships or bowls. Hell, O$U actually ran TV ads last week trying to sell tix to the Minnesota game. A top team in the country couldn't sell out the last home game of the season. No wonder a team that's maybe headed for another 2-10 season gets only friends and family crowds this time of year.

Side note... CBC usually has a pretty good Christmas IPA, Citra Noel. Light as far as a holiday beer goes. DAD from Rhinegeist is also a good one. It's like a holiday-spiced lightish beer.

Happy Thanksgiving Bobcat Nation!

Starters seeing limited duty Friday regardless of scoreboard?

I have a feeling Zips won't be mailing it in unless Bobcats can put them away early.

I can't imagine the Bobcats letting off the gas. Yes, they can't win the MAC East, so that goal is gone. That only makes other goals, which are still achievable, all the more important. Two goals that can still be accomplished is 10 wins, and a bowl win.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone, and Go Bobcats.

Hold me, I'm scared.

OU doesnt want to run plays, Akron has nothing to lose and will probably take a lot of shots.

Hoping for a 30-40 point beating, but would be happy just getting to 9 wins healthy.

Bangura 49 yard rushing on the 1st drive.

2 straight drops leads to a FG.

I hope we pound it all day and Bangura goes for 200.

I have been saying this all year. Run the ball off tackle and wide. Forget UTM.

Aaand..3rd drop leads to a punt. Rule 1, don't let a bad team hang around.

985th reason why Albin's "winning formula" is beyond stupid.

By nature you let bad teams hang around all game. Urgency doesn't exist. Keep it close and pray isn't a strategy.

When you play a team with the exact opposite philosophy, you leave yourself exposed.

We're lucky enough to have a tough defense to overcome constantly underachieving on offense, but this offense is tough to watch.

And a missed 52 yard FG instead of going for it - bad decision making

Actually I don’t care how good a defense is, you can’t be expected to hold everybody under 10 points, can you? We could easily lose this game, if the passing game doesn’t improve

Add Missed tackles to penalties and drops

And, give up another big play!

My other favorite, field goals are for losers. And that came after one of our famous up the middle plays that went for nothing.
