I've seen a little of NIU and saw most of kents the other day.  NIU wins impressively and goes.

I think NIU's qb is the real deal.  kents can't pass to save their lives and if we stopped their running game...

Andy Katz says UC making strong push to get into ACC.  Big East continues rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic.

And what if UCONN or L'Ville join UC in the ACC, I smell Va Tech joining the SEC if so.

I dunno.  VaTech has always seemed to go where they had little trouble winning in football. First Big Least then ACC.  They would be lucky to win one of three in the SEC.

I think the stability, and the boost is too much for them to pass up.

Virtually non-existent TV revenue for MAC makes adding teams extremely unlikely.

Uconn and Cincinnati just getting majorly screwed.  Especially Uconn which is very good academically and has many successful sports (women's hoops, soccer, etc.).  They now have to beg.....

Honestly, I'm surprised the ACC took Louisville over Uconn.

Southern football schools in the ACC drew a line in the stand wanting Louisville over UConn.. Louisville fans will travel to Clemson and Florida State.

Thats understandable. Football wise, L'ville is much stronger than UConn, and they are no slouches when it comes to basketball either.

Is that still the Boston College leverage that did not want UConn in originally still voicing their opinion? What do you really get with both Boston College and UConn in the New England region anyway? Factoring in UConn's issues with what Calhoun left behind for the BBall program, the ACC seemed to quickly strike for Louisville.

With what remains of the Big East football wise, I can't imagine any of the bidding networks dramatically overpaying for a conference that has lost it's premier marketable assets.

Spare me the dramatics, Templeton, I fully know the Big East has far more marketing power than the MAC. I would think the Western portion of what makes up the Big East is probably a little more than anxious to see just what that dollar amount of marketability really is with what now passes for a Big East Conference.

I'm sure the non-football BBall schools of the BigEast are wondering that as well. I don't see them leaving though as whatever the amount of marketing pull the BigEast/CUSA Reunion Conference can generate in the TV network package would be far more than the BBall only schools would be able to command in seperate TV contracts.

Football still drives the truck even if the Big East/CUSA Reunion Conference is a Garbage-Truck.

We should get UConn to join the MAC. Natural rivalry with UMass, and it would be the ultimate middle finger to both the Big East and the ACC.

(no, I'm not serious)

I see 2 issues with this, one serious and one farcical (i'll leave it to your imaginations which is which)

(1) As good as their basketball normall is, UConn football wouldn't be able to compete year in and year out with the current middle or top tiers of MAC football

(2) Would NIU require UConn to change their mascot/team name? Can there be only one huskie?

My guess is that UCONN and Cinci will stick around until the new TV deal for the Big East rolls around.  Then they have a finite number to at least compare other conferences and see if anything else look like a better option

They'd be fine in the MAC for football.  What was their record vs. MAC opponents?

Edit:  They'd probably be a Bowling Green type team.

You give UConn too much credit. This year UConn beat Buffalo and lost to WMU, so based strictly on that, they'd have finished around 3-5/2-6 in conference (about where they finished in the Big East). UConn was NOT a good team this year. A good friend of mine is a HUGE uconn fan so I watched several of their games. The best comparison I can think of is either our 2008 or 2009 team, one of the one's where when we got to 3rd and 1, our punter put on his helmet because we weren't able to run between the tackles to pick up that 3rd and short. So no, point (1) was my serious point, the Huskie/Highlander duel to the death was the farcical

Edit: they also beat UMASS 37-0, but so did every other team in the conference save us (MUCH closer win) and Akron, so I discounted that one

Maybe I am overestimating them, but even short run they'd be a hell of a lot better of a choice than, say, Tulane...

MAC basketball would be a whole lot better with UCONN and why not through in UC and invite Marquette, Villanova, St. Johns, etc..

True, true! I meant more an issue from their end. i.e. they'd be okay with being the doormat of the ACC but would balk at moving "down to" the MAC and being at the lower end of it

You've mentioned UC joininig the MAC a few times now.  It's never going to happen.  Ever.  They would rather be indenpent than join the MAC.

Stranger things have happened. West Virginia, Missouri, and Northern Illinois joined the MAC.....in Soccer, Wrestling, and Wrestling, respectively. So...yeah

Ozcat, I believe you are 100% correct.  UC will never entertain going back to the MAC.  They, like Marshall and Temple, think they are too good for the conference on a long term basis.  I think they along with UCONN are "next in" with the ACC when that conference expands again.  Then again, I am the guy who said U of L and UC would go somewhere together as a package.  As of right now, I was wrong there!
