Solich is fine.  We need to get rid of the offensive and defensive coordinators.

I agree Frank needs to look at both Coordinators. and strength coach/program it is obvious to fans and players that they play favorites. No way around it and don't say stability because the 2nd half of this season was not stable at all. This KILLS recruiting that already under performs. Going into the Dec recruiting push these loses are not good at all. Granted injuries killed this season but its up to coach to analyze what is causing these abnormal amount of injuries.

I called this team out after the lackluster W at home vs. EMU.  Up only 10 at the end of the third quarter against EMU--really?  And it was evident in too much of the loss at redhawk.

This team plays so passively, so unwilling to try to take control of games.

Our strength and conditioning program has been subpar since Ethan Reeve left.  The injury situation has been out of control for several years, but how about the comparative strength of our lines versus other MAC programs?  Kent, BSU, BGSU, Buffalo and, gawd, even Miami out muscled us.

SBH...ding ding ding!  As the season wore on our lack of "bigger, faster and stronger athletes really became apparent.  Even early other than PSU we didn't push anybody around.  Not sure whats going on there!

Long-term prediction: Albin will return as Ohio OC for the 2013-14 season.

Longer-term prediction: SBH will renew his season tickets.

Watch out what you wish for. I remember when folks said about the same thing about Coach Hess. Then we got Cleve and PaPaL. Right, Doc?

I think you skipped out on Coaches Kappes and Burke, no? And then we kept Kappes as recruiting coordinator for several more years, did we not?

Difference is Kapp was an interm coach upon the sudden passing of Coach Hess. Many of us felt Kapp should have retained the opportunity. But Kapp to many is Ohio Football.

I thought Coach Hess passed away just after the season ended.  I don't remember Kappes ever being the head coach.

We ARE deeper this year but no team, especially no team in a league like the MAC, can withstand the number of injuries Ohio's had and still maintain a championship level of play.

It's painfully obvious that this team is not deep. Seeing the numbers drop because of the injuries is one thing and understandable to a degree, this has been the football version of the fiscal cliff.

Yes, Kappes was interim coach for one year and then we had Brian The Burke, but then the deluge! I kind of truncated things to hype my point.

Coach Hess passed in June of 78'. Kapp coached the 78' season and then Coach Burke came in. 78' season was a very tough year

Here is what I don't understand about Albin.  We arrive at Penn State with a young but healthy WR group.  We throw/complete seven passes to Blankenship for 72 yards with one reception setting up a touchdown. See below!

Yesterday we have a depleted WR group and are missing starting TE and we complete one pass to Beau for 2 yards.  If our line is banged up and giving up sacks and the WR are having trouble getting open, can't we figure out a way to swing the ball to Blankenship to mix things up?

This is totally unbeleivable that individuals on this board are making the comments they are making.  Now I have to compare you to those OSU fans.  Never good enough.  If you have followed the Bobcats like you say, you would have to see the number of injuries that they have had, not just an injury  that a player is out for a play or two, but out for the season.  At the game yesterday, we lost three starters of the offensive line, one in the first 6 minutes of the game, and the other two were out of uniform in the second half. Yes others need to step up.  But it is the same coaches that had this team 7-0, and then the bottom fell out with all the injuries.  It was just a few short years ago we would have done anything for a winning season.  There are many, many football teams in this country that would do anything for an 8-4 season.  And yes they will be going to a bowl game, representing Ohio University with great pride.  And each of us need to take a step back and show some appreciation of what has been accomplished this season.  Go Bobcats!!!!

Penn State scouts Ohio, Beau in 13 games in 2011, 3 ttl rec, eight others returned with more receptions, 35 per game rushing.  The Lions gave us the receptions to Beau.  By the Kent game Beau had earned more respect.  If Ohio plays the Lions again Beau has lots more attention.

Ohio scouts Kent.  That #1 guy, playmaker, avg. 10 per run. heck of a receiver. Game numbers 13 for 57, avg. 4.1, 2 receptions.

Kent scouts Ohio. That #22 guy, playmaker, 123 per game. Game numbers 145 yards rushing.  Albin did well with his playmaker.  No doubt Kent had studied his big plays like Ohio studied Archer's big plays to take them away.  Our D held Archer down.  Three drives included, fumble for six. interception for pick six, 50 yard pass called back for 15 yard penalty.  McGrath, Herman, J.T., Carlotta out.  Scott, Neal H., Carrie, Carl out/hurt.  Giving a little credit to Kent with MAC offensive and defensive MVP types Archer/Nix. Kent is legit.

Just one comment here: You should have seen the comments in the chat room; some of them were even more ridiculous than some of the posts in this thread.  Yes, we've had some tough times the last few weeks.  Yes, we've had a lot of injuries.  No, I don't like it.  But, yes, I did see a defense (with a lot of wet-behind-the-ears underclassmen) play an inspired game against Kent.  I also saw an offense that struggled and seemed frustrated.   I don't mind legitimate criticism but calling for Frank's head (as was done in the chat room) is absurd.  Even Don Peden wasn't undefeated every season.  Give me a break.

I'll go on record as saying after a few weeks break and more practice for our team (with good coaching) and a few players back from injury, we are going to lay it on someone in the bowl game.  GO OHIO!

I used to be proud to say I was a Bobcat fan, but not now if it means that I am lumped together with OSU/Turd fan look-a-likes.  Look at the roster and the number of players out.   This thread disappoints me.  We are much better than this.

This season has ended with disappointment and that is an understatement.

Ohio has an 8-4-football team that defeated Penn State and it was a disappointing season.

I think that tells us how far we have come as a program over the last few years.

Now it is time to change our season's goal to winning our second bowl game.

If Ohio wins their second bow game that will be a nice way to salvage some of this season.

Regardless let us hope that next year we have a healthy, talented, hungry, and pissed off team that has some or a lot of unfinished business.

It seems to me some want the program to reap the rewards of big-time college football without the side effects. They want the players lauded and put on magazine spreads. They want unconditional praise of Ohio football. And then when it goes bad they want to silently let the inflated expectations dissipate and come asking for the praise again next year.

That's the worst kind of homerism.

You can't take control of the game when you are constantly put in 3rd and long situations..   This falls on the OC..  Play calling has been aweful all year.

Going into the season we knew the team strength would be the OL with Beau and Boykin. Wear em down. Run the ball, stop the run, win the game, the idea for 2012.  1,500 yards for Beau, amazing, good job players and coaches.  TT also made himself the all-time Ohio QB in less than two seasons, good job players and coaches. For these to happen there had to have been very good play calling. There is a big picture here.  Ohio is winning the war and some are wrapped around some battles.  Games are battles. Seasons are campaigns. The war never ends.  I still believe Ohio is winning the war, in good company with NIU, Toledo, Kent and this year BG & BS.

I've heard from people *inside* the program that think that Albin and Burrow need to go. So its not just the fans.

I seriously doubt that FS starts over with new coordinators at this point in his career.  Even though I have been as critical as anybody about the seeming lack of preparation and execution this year, I have to believe that with some able bodied players returning from injury next year and a renewed desire to "git r dun" this team will play a whole lot better next year.
