Daz with his fabulous 1-9 record vs teams with a winning record. Best of luck in his future endeavors.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.....Who's the bigger sucker, Addazio or Boston College?

But really, I think the lesson to be learned here is that, if you want to be a head football coach, the best thing you can do is style yourself after Sargeant Slaughter.

I lived in Montgomery, Alabama for 9 years. Regardless of possible NCAA sanctions or past National Championships, the fact of life is that if you go 0-8 in the SEC and get blown out by Alabama two years in a row then you are out of a job.

I always hoped Addazio would grab the hat off a state patrolman on the sideline....

Given the Wisconsin news and the Orange Bowl bid, Dave Doeren may be wishing he waited.
Wisconsin would have been right in his wheel house.

According to BC's AD, Daz has three essential traits they were looking for: breathing, walking upright and the ability to call plays while farting "Yankee Doodle."

I believe he knows the Big East is a conference waiting to fall of the physical cliff!  Can Butch be far behind!

ESPN also reporting Hazell to Purdue, according to "sources" anyway.

So, we're looking at Can't, WMU, and maybe BallSU if Lembo goes somewhere, but that should be about it for MAC vacancies, right?

Don't forget NIU as well. I'd have to think that may be it. Toledo's coach likely has one more year before he's a serious candidate.Perhaps the same with BGSU.

Just another reason why I love Solich, we will never have to worry about our coach leaving us after a great season.

Nope at Frank's age we have to worry about soft foods, and frequent restroom stops.  ;-)

As long as Frank continues to coach we will be a consistent player for the MAC crown.

Biggest reason is what you're seeing right now.........this is a stepping stone conference.......therefore you never have continuity in your program.

Out of all of these, I look at Bielma going to Arkansas as my "what the (insert favorite phrase here)?" moment.  He was upset by Urban Meyer's recruiting tactics?  Now he's going to an entire conference of Urban Meyers (who may be more cutthroat from what I've heard).  Smart.

Too bad that we're losing so many good coaches to the next level; the MAC will be good next year too and they skip town for greener pastures.  Could have been a year that was even more special than this one.  Have to see how everything plays out.

That's "life in the MAC".  Good coaches basically use the MAC as a stepping stone to greener pastures.  I thought I read somewhere today that 21% or 26 coaches at the FBS level are current or former MAC head coaches.

I'm cynical enough to believe that the only reason Coach Solich is still at Ohio is solely because of his age; I think if he were 10 years younger he would have left several years ago.

Is this taking into account the fact he had already coached at a national power (Nebraska) or no?

Apparently it has nothing to do with an NCAA investigation.  Butch Davis -- who left UNC under the microscope -- is the front-runner to replace him.

Several years ago?  He was less than .500 here several years ago.  Still hasn't won a title.

No, it's only based on the way I've seen things shake out in the coaching profession over the last couple of years.  I'm not really persuaded by how much a coach professes his love for Ohio University and the Athens area (i.e. Coach Groce).  It just seems that the general rule (and obviously there are exceptions) is that coaches will always bolt for more money.  Not that that's wrong-I only find the timing unseemly.

My cynical nature might be bearing out-one rumor going around is that Butch Davis might be in line for the FIU job.  That's some shady s*** if that's true because FIU's AD is Pete Garcia.  All you Browns fans remember the Butch Davis-Pete Garcia relationship while they were in Cleveland.  If the rumor's true, it begs the question of why Cristobal was fired.
