I really did not expect this given that some of the teams that Toledo beat were teams we lost to. I'll say that I was completely wrong in saying we had no chance to be in a bowl game.

Five straight bowl games. Great for recruiting. And it appears our game payout is higher than what two other MAC teams will get. Nice job by AD , Solich et all. Two weeks to prepare.

2 bowl wins in a row, Frank Solich, the Marching 110, "the most under rated fan base in college football".. these are some of the minor things that likely made us more attractive than Toledo.

We also have over 3,000 alumni on the FL gulf coast, not to mention the remaining areas in the state. Not sure of Toledo's numbers, but wouldn't be surprised if that may have played a role.

Maybe Alan, but maybe not. Granted, it's not an exotic location but as far as fan accessibility goes, travel should not be an issue for their fans and they should be facing a Big 10 opponent.

That either had something to do with it or it's their best excuse. The Bowl's press release specifically mentions the 51 pts we put on UMass.

Or maybe it illustrates how inept the conference we play in is. It is a joke that the Pizza Bowl is the MAC's premier bowl.

Interestingly, we have another argument that we aren't some lowly program that no one nationally sees any value in...
How many times has it been said on this board that Toledo would be looked at by other conferences before Ohio? While 1 bowl game favoring us isn't the end-all point, I certainly think it could wake up some people to the reality of our potential.

Welly, welly, welly, well. This news gave me a much needed lift after the Browns' heartbreaker today. ECU is very good so it should be an entertaining game. At least I'll have the day off on the 23rd so I can watch unlike the Independence Bowl lat year when I had to work. I tried to listen to the game on the radio and it seemed like every time the Bobcats were ready to score somebody would call and cause me to miss a big play!

Wow...I didn't even look at the Bowl projections last night or today. I must publicly apologize for saying no way a 7-5 OHIO team would go bowling. Don't know how it happened but it is good for the players, fans and institution.

Now let's hope that FS and staff prepare a great game plan and TT and Co focus and execute it! This could be their redemption...

Baffled, but pleased. A pretty desirable location. And with the quirky month layoff of this bizzare bowl system, a team can totally transform itself from what it was at the end of a season. I'm never against a bowl trip. A third tier bowl game is still much more of a showcase for the university than a CBI type of tournament in hoops, which annoy me.
