I guess I'll see you all here in beautiful, sunny St. Petersburg. Cheap flights on Allegiant Air to our regional airport or fly into Tampa on regular airlines.

This could be a long day as ECU has put up a lot of points this year. Defense better get in gear fast.

Wow,  Did Toledo turn down a bowl bid or did they get snubbed?  Akron's upset over Toledo in their final game of the year may loom large now.

How bad do you have to be to not get into a bowl?

I think that the bottom line is Toledo losing to Akron lost them a bowl bid, beatdown on UMASS got us in. I am very happy, the extra practices are the reason I wanted us to go bowling to help improve some of our young talent. This is great news, and beating ECU would be awesome.

I think they outright picked Ohio over Toledo. Toledo had the better results on the field this year but I truly believe we are the more desirable program to have in a bowl.

We are in!!!!  Yea!  St. Pete here we come.  Toledo's loss to Akron did them in.  This is a blessing for all the players and coaches that believed in this team.

This could be nothing but a business decision. I think this is one of the bowls ESPN owns. I think we pretty consistently draw better TV ratings than Toledo, and we are probably a better brand than Toledo at this point.

This is a case of "If you can't beat 'em on the field, you may as well beat 'em in marketing!"

I don't think you can rule out Frank's many connections with the movers and shakers of the football world.  Not saying that's the only factor, but I suspect it was part of the mix.

As I said, it's not a plaffoff. It's all about TV ratings, and who brings fans.

i cannot grasp this. Toledo's losses were to Florida, Missouri, N Illinois, Ball St. and then to Akron. They beat CMU, Navy, BGSU and Buffalo. Schaus must know someone.

This is certainly good news!  Time to celebrate w/ a Great Lakes X-Mas Ale (intended side effect-try to forget the Browns' innate ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory)

Yep. We bring more fans than some want to give us credit for and we do pretty well on TV around the entire state of Ohio. (you know, the state that our school is named after)

I think people still remember our name from the Penn State win. Beef O'Brady Bowl was quick to throw up a shot of TT on their website. Ohio fans may not be thrilled with him, but nationally people know his name.

That's why they call it "silly season."
