Funny how you bobcat fans want to bring up ancient history for the W L records that no longer have any bearing and are not representstive of where either program is today. So glad the team will wax the new field with bobcats saturday.

In all seriousness this is my favorite game each year. I always talk my dad into coming. It motivates me to tailgate. I love it. I wont know how this game is going to go until the end of the first quarter. If we take care of the ball then I will feel confident, if we fumble I might leave lol.

Last year was just a crap show by us. I literally was laughing at our ability to lose the ball. I take nothing away from Ohio's d, but I feel marshall loved shooting themselves in the foot. Now as the game was winding down ohio did the things needed to hold on to the win and you can't take that away.

I can't wait for this saturday and look forward to meeting more ohio fans.

I agree with Jeff. The Ohio River is not quite the socioeconomic barrier some would suggest. My current hometown of Parkersburg is a much more sophisticated city than the hick town in Ohio I grew up in. I am more inclined to joke about Appalachia as a whole.

The few Marshall fans on this board are not representatitve of the entire fanbase. Very few Marshall fans that I know (all large Big Green donors and long-time season ticket holders) believe Marshall is a significantly better program than Ohio. Depending on the time horizon, an argument can be made for either side. Ohio fans like to point out our superior academic standing, but the two wealthiest clients I work with are Marshall grads. It is ridiculous to extract a combination of small data samples and anectdotal experience and present it as indisputible facts.

CUSA is just as bad of a conference as the MAC. Puffing your chest out to say you are only slightly less mediocre than Ohio is laughable. Marshall has had more success in football in the last 20 years. They have also done it under a cloud of suspicion, NCAA violations and academic gray areas. Jim Donnan and Bob Pruett are not sources of pride for most Marshall alumni.

I love the rivalry and think the teams are as competitively balanced now as they ever have been. Marshall fans are generally polite and welcoming when we roll into Huntington. I always enjoy my trip down there.

This week Vegas thinks Marshall is 3 touchdowns better than Ohio. Maybe they are right. Vegas set last week's line vs. UK based on their top RB being out for the game with an injury. There was also an 80% chance of thunderstorms. Those two factors could easily change the line by 6-7 points. Season records don't work either because Kentucky plays in the SEC. The only definitive way to determine if Marshall is better than Kentucky is for those two teams to play each other. Of course, the Herd fans in this thread don't think the final score of a game means anything in an argument about the better team.

A 44-7 win isn't "luck"

Sorry but I personally would believe that by the time he is a senior, Towles from Kentucky will be better than Cato. Let's check and see who will not only be drafted by the NFL but who will play in the NFL. Cato is outstanding, don't get me wrong. But I've never been wowed by him. Just like DeAndre Kane when he was at Marshall. Never felt wowed by him. I think that was a result of bad coaching..but still. Don't sleep on Kentucky this year. They won't be world beaters but I will be they're bowl team.

And as for campuses and educations, I've been to Marshall many times and had to update my shots each time.

It's kind of like which side of the sword do you want cut by herdfan. Either one of our QB's will move the ball against Marshall. Your D is not that strong - remember Miami? It's a matter of picking the one that will beat you. If our defense plays as well as they have been - I expect a win. The Bell stays in Athens. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. I won't make excuses like -Your kicker put a really mean spin on the ball and we couldn't catch it. Or, we fumbled too much or we would have won.

Normally that's how it works when a team loses. They beat themselves. Most often, the other team has something to do with that by beating them at the line of scrimmage and wearing them down. That's when mistakes start to happen - when a team's collective head is not in the game. Good luck Marshall. If you were a MAC team, I'd say I'll root for you in all the games following ours - your not, so I won't. Have fun at the game - wish I could be there. Wisconsin is a bit too far to travel when I work early Monday morning.

P.S. Yes I watched some of the Miami game - it bored me so I turned it to a better game.

I've never said we were better then UK..so please point where I said that... I also never said miami was good... again point that out. Also Miami's QB was good and I think later on you will see that. But dont go bragging about "can't read can't write" Kent state since they aren't exactly world beaters.

We also had 4 turnovers and can promise we didnt give up more than 3 points on those vs Rhode island. There is a reasonwhy we didnt open up the playbook vs eeach of those teams.

That was sarcasm for you all saying it wasnt luck. It is luck when the opposing teams juggles the kickoff for so long that the opposing team covers it in the end zone for a touchdown. That may be one of only a handful o times it has ever happened in the history of college football. Its different than a defense that strips the ball etc. Those 7 points were a gift. 44-7, was a beat down. The 2012 game was a good game. But 2013 was a turnover debacle where Ohio didnt beat us we did.

If we dont give you +3 in turnover margin, you dont have a prayer. Its that simple. I cant wait for the meltdown when you lose 45-7 or 45-17ish
