Wow! Vegas isn't giving the Bobcats much of a chance this Saturday. I expected the line to be set between -9 and -12. My Marshall friends are even taking Ohio (for entertainment purposes only, of course). They are shocked by this spread, too.

Not being able to cover 12.5 last week when the D only gave up 20 might be the reason for that.

A few years back we beat Marshall 44-7.

Unless our offense has a surprise coming out party planned, we might see the same score with Marshall on top this weekend.

Here's the problem with the spread, we have only given up 14 and 20 points total. Yes our offense has been offensive but we play Marshall strong (obviously look at the last three years) and our defense isn't going to let us get beat that bad. Will we lose probably but Marshall has beat two absolutely pitiful teams. Fiami lost to E. Kentucky, I didn't know E. Kentucky had a football program. Rhode Island is below pitiful, they are Ohio back when we had Cleve Bryant as coach if that good. We've seen this QB what 3 years in a row now so there won't be anything new so we basically need to execute. Somewhere in that offense against Kent there was potential to blow them out but 4 fumbles stopped that. Ky was this years Louisville but only for one half. I think last years 9.5 spread is where the game will end up.

Cato will throw the ball all over and the Herd will use actual running backs against us not a 6'5"/240# QB. I fear this may get really ugly!

I don't agree with this spread... i think it should be -32 at least.. hahaha

JK. Seriously, i think more around 10 would be correct. But hell, who knows. If i bet, i take ohio with the points. But i is interesting how basic our offense has been and defense. We havent left a base set hardly in either game. We may open it up this weekend or we may actually just be able to run base stuff because the younger players are behind. Who knows.

I expect a tight game.

I was born and raised in Charleston so I have a love for Marshall and WV. Many of my friends went to Marshall or WVU or played small college football in WV. I walked on at Ohio after playing at GW. Just saying that a close rivalry like this probably shouldn't have a spread like that whether Marshall or Ohio is having a good year. I don't think this will be a big point spread win, 27-17 Marshall is my guess. I'll bet $10,000 Monopoly money on the spread.

20 points is asking for bettor to take money.

I don't think I'm that off-base in saying that we appear to have a good D. And redhawk score some points on stupd cow.

True. But their qb made some perfect deep throws to score as well. There is no defense for the perfect pass.

They scored less on EKY, and no one with any brains woulf say their D is better. It was a fluke.

I dont think OU scores more than 10 on us.

Is Marshall really even supposed to have that good of a D? It's always been about the offense in recent years. I think if our defense plays up to its potential, we'll be in the game. Just have to muster up enough points to stay in it!

I think that Cato's a fine qb. But through last year, he's shown no arm strength. If our D doesn't have to worry about the long ball so much, it helps. We'll see.

I fully expect Marshall to win the game this year. Of course, I've said the same thing in 2011, 2012 and 2013. This is a great regional rivalry game between two pretty evenly-matched teams. Marshall week has become my favorite week of each football season.

When did Marshall really become such a scary program? Doc Holliday has done some nice things but he's also done some dumb things. Cato is an outstanding quarterback but he plays in a horrible conference top to bottom. I also predict us losing but is Marshall better than Kentucky? I don't think so. I see it being 28-18 or 28-20..somewhere where we are outside of a touchdown away.

According to our Governator, sports betting became legal in NJ today. If they have it up an running by this weekend, I might have to support the economy.

perimeter, I am just being realistic but if I am wrong I will be the first to admit it...and I am fun at parties. I learned all about them while in Athens from '67-'71:)

Are you serious? Yes Marshall is better than Kentucky. Kentucky isnt in any polls that i am aware of. Has never had a bit of attention. There is a reason for that.

Our Defense was a top 30 Defense last season, its why we improved so much. 2 years ago if we didnt outscore someone, we wouldn't win. Not so last season for the most part. And under the 2nd ear of the new D coordinator, looks to be better this year, though we have been only decent in the first 2 games. Like i said, miami qb threw some perfect passes in that game. Still, our D averages around 300 yards and 17 pts a game.

Cato has hit several 30-40 yard in the air passes down the sidelines his season. His arm strength is fine it appears. We finally have outside receivers to complement our slot guys. We have yet to play even close to our potential though, as we have been vanilla and playing base offense and defense for the most part.

Better than Kentucky though, yes.

You may be, you may not be. I don't see any hard core evidence that provides certainty in either direction. 30th in defense just means numbers with no consideration for schedule strength. as meaningless in CUSA as it is in the MAC. the polls don't mean s**t at this point and they mean even less in the "votes" section.

I don't think Cato spends a whole lot of time under pressure, but we have consistently gotten to him even with less disruptive defenses than what we're bringing this year. If there's a situation where he has all day to throw, I have no doubt he could pick us apart, but if we've shown one thing, it's that Cato will certainly throw picks when pressured. That said, we're also due for about a four-interception game. Saturday is as good a time as any.

Ah yes. Numbers and ranking and averages mean nothing. Cusa is as strong as is been in a long time. Polls do mean something. I can say with confidence we aee better than Kentucky. But then i thought that about Ohio as well.

We will see in a few days.

It will all be resolved on the field. Bragging about empty stats after playing light opponents mean nothing. Let's talk Saturday night or Sunday - I'm guessing Marshall fans will not be so arrogant. Not that it will matter to this delusional fan base of Herd fans. After our recent success against them they come up with, well we beat team X by X points and you only beat them by X amount of points so that makes us better. There is no arguing with those who see unicorns and fairy dust. Blah blah blah.

You have won because of an unbelievably bad string of turnover laden games. Thats a fact! You still won, but thats the reason.

Its funny that Marshall fans say you are the arrogant ones and you say we are.

I will say one thing, you sold our your allotment of tickets! Thats a first

Please stop pretending all turnovers are just random luck. Any credit due to our defensive scheme for creating pressure and for excellent coverage? Its entirely up to your QB to which color jersey he throws the ball.

Also, let's not forget our WR being tackled during his route to a wide open 2 point conversion and the win in 2010. This what if game is fun, right? All those herd wins when Ohio was down......it's a fact if we had just tackled Herd players before they got in the end zone we would have won. That's definitely the only reason Marshall won back then and you really didn't earn the wins because all we had to do was make more tackles (see how dumb this sounds yet?).

Give even the bad OHIo teams a little credit, in the early 2000's OHIO lost two games on missed chip shot field goals as time expired.

Oh. You're right.... your kicker put super spin on the kick off, causing our player to juggle the ball and drop it then your guys jump on it for a touchdown... come on.

I do give ohio credit, but when a team has 5 turnovers it did not play its best game. Clearly. I want to see both teams play at their best level and may the best win.

And to the guy who said no evidence about marshall being better than UK.... handicappers are pretty damn good at their predictions. A 16 point dog at UK and 20.5 at marshall says they think we are 4.5 points better than UK.
