Charlotte fans are excited that they are #1 in the country in something -- after yesterday's games they edged out Ball State for the most punts per game in the country -- 6.4 to 6.3. Before yesterday, they were #2. In all truth, I do remember when we were right up there among the leaders in this category.

The general mood on the UNCC board is one of depression. There seems to be a general consesnus that Albin is on a hot seat, and if they don't show significant improvement next year he's finished. Right now, though, they are focusing most of their anger on the OC. I suspect he'll be fired. It may be like rearranging the chairs on the deck of the Titanic.

Do any former Bobcats on the Charlotte roster (Taylor, for one) return to Ohio?

I now have a second very reliable source who confirms what the first source told me that Cromer created a very hostile work environment. This second source also added that she was not a very efficient administrator. HOWEVER, that does not excuse your buddy Albin from his very rash decision to cut bait and run. Just a little more patience, like two weeks or so, and he could have gotten, per President Gonzalez, the same at Ohio as he was offered by UNCC. You seem unable to assign any blame for this fiasco to Tim. To me this was a cut off your nose to spite your face move.

OCF- you and others have no idea how Albin was treated by the former AD. You admit that Cromer created a hostile work environment, which I have told you multiple times before. She is the reason many male employees left Athens. You and others refused to listen to what I said several months ago. Would you remain in a job when you were mistreated? You are talking about an AD who secretly renewed the womens BB coach with a miserable record the last four years. You are talking about an AD who rewarded Ohio's mens hoops coach as the highest paid coach in the league for yearly 5th and 3rd seed performances. And as far as President Gonzalez, she dropped the ball also. Do you think Rod McDavis would have made that mistake? Do you think Prez Nellis would have made that mistake? We both know the answer to that question! Gonzalez was cozy with the former AD. Admit it, your buddy in Baton Rouge was biased against Albin and never wanted to hire him in the first place.

The examples of her driving out male employees are renewing the women’s basketball coach (a male) and men’s basketball coach (also a male).

talk about work environments... our now former football coach is lagging in Charlotte and has all but completely evaporated the buzz with students, alumni and boosters he was afforded coming in. Local media is giving the program limited attention - there is expected massive portal transfer out - which may be a good thing given the talent level but many are ones brought in - and he acknowledges he can't swing and miss this year.

The equation hasn't changed - the survival games for Albin will be App State and ECU next year - win one or at least be highly competitive in both or he will be on very thin ice (and we don't react well to ice down here).

The one piece of good news is practically every decent program in the American is having their coach hired away.

I asked this question the moment Albin left for Charlotte:

"Does he really think he's stepping into a better situation there?"

Now I'll ask this question again... And the obvious answer to it is "No."
Some of you have ZERO idea on why Coach Albin left for Charlotte!
So why don't you tell us.
I have mentioned before on this message board, but many good ole boys on this message board don't want to hear why Coach Albin is now in NC. Ask the former AD who is now in Baton Rouge why Coach Albin is no longer in Athens? She won't provide the truth. This is the same AD who hired Coach Smith before Christmas 2024. Coach Smith was working without a contract until October 2024 when current AD Slade Larscheid got the deal done. This was reported by USA Today in early October 2025. Many posters think the former AD was the best thing since sliced bread. Some posters on this message board have NO clue how the former AD treated employees.
Not to be disrespectful but "Put up, or shut up". You have posted 1,218 times the same stuff. So please tell us all WHY he is in Charlotte. And I'll bet my last dollar you do not know Julie Cromer at all. Your third hand info is just that. My belief is they have better veterinary clinics in Charlotte and that is why he left.

Mid &0's- I do know Ohio's former AD. This isn't third hand information. I do know how she treated employees. I do know how she treated Albin compared to other Bobcat coaches. Maybe she felt pressured to hire Albin, when Solich retired two weeks before the season started in 2021? It was the best hire she made in her six seasons in Athens, but she failed to realize it. Tell me one reason why the womens hoops coach was secretly renewed by the AD after four very lousy seasons. Why was the mens basketball coach rewarded as the highest paid league coach for annual 5th and 3rd seed performances? Why would you not take care of an employee who worked at Ohio University for 20 seasons and was an ambassador for Ohio University, on top of being a great football coach. How many other Bobcat coaches do you see attending womens basketball, volleyball, softball, baseball and swimming events? She was biased against Albin and didn't want to reward him for three consecutive ten win seasons. She refused to get a deal done with the 2 time conference coach the year. Albin wasn't the only employee who she mistreated. Don't take my word for the hostile work environment she created. OCF has commented about the hostile work environment more than once on this message board forum.

Provide anecdotes and examples of the behavior that created the hostile work environment.

That the Woman's Basketball Coach got a new contract and that you think Boals' is overpaid does not have anything to do with this accusation. Share details.

What do you not understand? Have you asked the former ticket director Ray Dixson how he was treated by the the AD who is now in Baton Rouge? Have you talked to former Associate AD Michael Stephens in Nebraska to ask him how he was treated by Cromer? Have you spoke to former Radio guy Russ Eisenstein about how he was treated by the former AD? Do you want more names? I know how those employees were treated. The work environment was hostile. Not my words, but the words of OCF. Ask him. Maybe you don't appreciate winning ten games in football yearly and a MAC title for the first time in over 50 years? It could be that you and the former AD run in the same circles? Maybe you were not around in the 1980's and most of the 90's when Ohio football was non existent except for a few good years from Grobe? Why wouldn't the person who is now in Baton Rouge do everything possible to take care of the most successful employee in her department? She took care of a very mediocre womens hoops coach! She certainly had zero problem paying a 5th and 3rd seed mens basketball coach yearly top dollar. Yet she turned her back on the two time league coach of the year with unprecendented success. How much more do you need?

Ask the former AD what Albin's first contract was? Four years with the ability of the AD to review after the second season? Do you think the womens hoops coach got that kind of contract? We all know the answer to that. She treated Albin way differently than other employees. Instead of rewarding him for a job well done, she treated him worse than a mediocre womens hoops coach and a mens basketball coach who consitently ended up as a five or third seed. I'm not foing to get into the baseball coaching job she mishandled.

You lose all credibility with "Do you think Prez Nellis would have made that mistake?" You do realize he was removed by the BOT due to incompetence, right?

You recently divulged the root of your (and Albin's) anger about the AD: Albin's original contract. Yep, he was put on a VERY short leash...for multiple reasons. First, the AD and Frank had an agreement that he would give her at least a year's notice of his retirement. Instead, Frank and Timmy pulled a quick one - essentially 2 months' notice - to ensure she had no choice but to elevate Albin to the position.

I got to know Julie a bit simply by speaking with her at events, and found that if I asked a politically delicate question she would provide a frank answer. She explained that after Solich pulled his trick, she spoke to 3-4 well regarded ADs at large universities. Her approach to the first Albin contract was based entirely on their recommendations.

It's no secret that she and other members of the department - not to mention the folks in Cutler Hall - were unimpressed with Albin. He is not articulate, particularly thoughtful, and apparently acted as though the job should be given to him without any vetting. And so he and his agent were unhappy with the first contract and also unhappy that she forced him to work with a public speaking consultant. Timmy was even more unhappy when she dictated staffing changes following the disastrous first year. She was in charge of a valuable asset and was not going to squander it. Turns out her approach worked.

And, for the last time, I will explain her renewal of Bob Boldon. In reviewing the condition of the women's program, she and other staffers interviewed multiple former players, dating all the way back to the 1990s. These individuals, with few exceptions, told horror stories about their experiences in Athens. They hated their coaches. They remained angry about the lack of support provided by the department. The ONLY positive feedback came from those who played for Bob Boldon. They said he cared about them, valued their skills and wanted them to have positive experiences both on and off the court. Given this, and coupled with the fact that his worst W-L records can be attributed to a freakish string of injuries, she decided he deserved a renewal. There was no big raise, nor was there anything secret about it. IMO, it was absolutely the right decision.

As for all the men whom you claim were treated poorly by her, Julie's long-term strategy was to outsource ticket sales/management. Therefore, why would she up the salary of the ticket manager? As for Russ Eisenstein, it's pretty well established that he was not exactly a team player within the department. Perhaps some of his attitude was due to his inability to rise to a higher-profile gig. Whatever the reason, for the good of the department and to continue to develop young talent, it was time for Russ to go. She didn't fire him; he made the decision based on dollars and cents.

This is great insight. It's also hilarious in retrospect that so many folks here thought that Albin had "bamboozled" Cromer with his initial contract. People called for her to be fired because it was TOO generous.

Meanwhile, Albin thought it was so restrictive that he became bitter and felt mistreated.
